1966 EBAY in Wisconsin

Coming out of the woodwork

Nice starting point, rather freshly black. For 22 g's gotta see in person. I met a fella that sent 25.5 away for a car on with pics only and a cashiers check the car was very similar in patina to this. Must be nice to be able to be a player like that I hope it does not bite him in the wallet and the car gets home.

Norm, there is also one other car and a BON on eBay this weekend you are slipping up on us:)

I would never buy a car sight unseen or at an auction anywhere near market value. I have seen too many auction cars and heard horrible stories after ebay car purchases. I went to Mecum Indy and saw 2,100 flip cars at the 2,200 car auction.

I wonder if Norm is ever going to print a BON update. There are hundreds of cars that are now known that are not in the book. I am still waiting to find one at a garage sale for .50 cents. That one is already out of my price range. http://www.ebay.com/itm/141246682096?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Lee

Norm should make an updated book and I am pretty sure he could sell them for $100 each without any problems. Plus I bet new info has surfaced since the mid 90's on not only the cars but some history too.

China Grove N.C.

I thought it was just a great song by the Doobie Bros. but that's where this 0 feedback seller and car is. I thought you could not list a car without vin on evilbay.

Bruce do you just type comments or do you read posts n retain info.
Even my rusty steel trap of a brain knows that copyright issues are touted as why Norm doesn't reprint and update "Sign in Please,"
The section of his website is not titled as such but shows his current info.

The TAC data base is also available too but is not complete as there is lag time between the TAC cert and its website posting.

I think our website is nicely geared towards hosting pics of cars when they come up for sale and give E trail that can be searched easily. That's why I do it when I can, but I too have a slow connection when away from home.

The backbone members have their cars featured in Tiger Tales and that's always cool when you see an old caretaker passing the torch, whip n chair or w/e

in the interest of lyrical correctness..

A closer inspection of the lyrics should reveal the China Grove as celebrated in the song is "a little bit south of San Anton(io)" and a "part of the Lone Star state" but the people don't seem to care... :D But I did not know there was such a place in N.C. myself. Things we learn on this Forum...

All said in fun Warren.

Warren--I try to read before commenting--that's how I come up with my answers..........:)
Then maybe Norm could make another book similar to the BON but yet different to get around the copyright issues.

Tires screeching

Ok fellas, I am as guilty as the next guy on topic again. I thinking this car would go 22,000 as a BIN if it didn't have the fresh black on it and it probably will sell despite the "started," look as someone will hit the BIN button before it ends. What happens after they see it in person is the next best ? possibly be happy or give seller 75 bucks and walk. What really sucks is the near 15% sellers fees for non auto eBay items.

Did anybody notice the JAL and VIN both end in 2470. I thought those numbers were usually different.

I saw that too but didn't want Warren beating me up over it, glad you said something..... :)

off topic

My car is #2631, that's 161 cars after this one. My JAL is 2639, that's 169 away from this one too, so what happened to the 8 bodies? Or is something wrong here?

Of beer mashers n bangers lunch no doubt. Oh and they aren't Jaguar or Aston Martin or Rolls or Bently's

But they have a high survival rate as some have said. Which is code for they broke got parked and became barn finds. Lucky for me and others.

My JAL is nowhere near my vin....... :(
Well unless you subtract the year, add the days of the week, divide by my age and add 123.......haha, just kidding.

Norm has a course on 'Rootes Math 101'...it's complicated. Stacks of bodies (cars, that is) sealed envelopes, valve cover tags, a little old lady with a pop-rivet gun...like I said, it's complicated! Some of our Tigers have a vin number and a JAL number that are at least a thousand numbers apart!! I don't think the mystery will ever be explained to complete satisfaction.

Square Rootes of Math

Our's: B382000078 (Ole # 78) JAL 660094. There always seemed to be a plus difference in the JAL. The above thread car is the first I've ever seen with a matching numeric ending.
