1967 Mk1A Auction, Mecum in May

Really, a Series 2 Tiger????
Mecum better be careful here. They are advertising the car as a "Series 2", which is what they were calling the 534 Mk IIs built. To quote their listing "The limited production Series II 1967 Tiger offered here...." Yet, when I look at the photos, I did not see anything to indicate it is a Mk II. It is wearing all of the Mk 1A trim and none of the Mk II trim. OK, it does have a 289, but how many other Mk 1 and Mk 1A cars sport something than the original 260s? And the engine bay has what looks like a generator, not an alternator. The gauges don't look right for a Mk II, too. And there are no backup lights. I smell a Mk 1A with an engine transplant.

Also note that the seats are not MarkII seats.

Another slow news day in Tiger land but we have someone to beat up.
Come guys, they can call it w/e they want days the disclaimer.
They can fix it and get the facts straight by hammer time, but they will most likely have the same disclaimer then. Why read their copy, its always the same cut n paste stolen ad copy from who knows where. All those resale red cars look alike unless you put it in front of a flag, and have "Tiger Rims,". Yeah sure they are Mercury Capri Tiger. I'm shocked it doesn't have Corinthian leather too since it has a Chrysler heritage!

I sold a car at Russo and Steele last year. The owner can write the description or pay the professional writer to do it. Since many of the auction attendees are flippers, they buy two, four, or more cars it does not surprise me that there would be inaccurate information in an ad. Possible the print was posted early and the edits have not been completed. In this case not sure if it is a filpper but he may know little about Tigers and more about money. Bought it for 50 and trying to make a living as a flipper. Pretty big error but the writer looks up 1967 tiger and sees that year they made a mk2. My car is a 1966 registered in 1967.

Well... they changed the ad copy and took out the references to MK II or series II etc. and even mentioned it was a MK1A at the start of the auction
Bidding opened @ $40k and went up pretty quick to sell @ $90K !!
