Would the 465 Holley be used as the LAT option way back ?I have the manual choke on the MK2 while my carb guru is fixing a flat spot in it's square bowl Holley 465.
My carb patience stops at about 34mm
Works good on a stock 289
465 CFM ?The LAT optional carb would not have the silver finish, but instead would have had the gold finish.
The 715 CFM carb (double pumper) was the same one as used on the Shelby GT 350... They will not fit in the Tiger w/o persuading the firewall with a BFH. I have repaired many a firewall after the previous installation of that carbie!According to Performance Tuning the Sunbeam Tiger, by Gordon Chittenden, the LAT-1 kit for the 260 Tigers included the Holley 1-12. Model R-1848-B. It was rated at 465 cfm. For competition purposes, the optional carb was the Holley R-3259-1AAS, rated at 715 cfm. Chittenden also stated that the LAT-1 kit for the Mk II Tigers would come with the Holley 1-14 carb. Unfortunately, Chittenden did not give the model number nor the CFM. I have heard from others that it was a 600 cfm carb. Holley made a couple of carbs similar to the R-1848 - the R-1849 (550 CFM) and the R-1850 (600 cfm). I suspect one of those was the 1-14, but cannot find documentation.
Sean, thanks. Yeah, that pedal seems to make fuel evaporate. The 715 CFM carb (double pumper) was the same one as used on the Shelby GT 350... They will not fit in the Tiger w/o persuading the firewall with a BFH. I have repaired many a firewall after the previous installation of that carbie!
I am using a 1850-12 on my MK2... vacuum secondaries, 600 CFM, manual choke. Edelbrock F4B intake and a standard points dizzy. I run cast exhaust manifolds and 2" pipes to the rear of the car. I never need to use the choke. Just give it a couple of pumps and feather it until it's warm enough to idle. I get better than 22 MPG if I keep my foot off the loud pedal....
Tigers get decent MPG... If you disconnect the secondaries, coast in neutral to intersections and no heal toe fun...I get better than 22 MPG if I keep my foot off the loud pedal....
