Air cleaner approaching BON prices??

Didn't I see the car in Pullayup WA sell months ago?

Not so sure its false bidding... its supply and demand. If there are a few people wanting that item.. price will go high. It was not uncomon between 2007-2010 for the cleaner housings to go between US$850-1100, then they dropped back for a while apart from a few occasional spikes of over $900.

The other thing to note is that the chrome filter housing that cam in the LAt dress up package only had a chrome top plate.. not bottom, that was still painted.

A friend of mine bought the one listed on here a few weeks back, and eric G offered one ealy this year for 700ish inlcuding postage with no takers.. threw it on ebay and got comfortably more and they had to pay postage on top.. long and the short .. better to buy from the board from fellow members

Funny you say that Warren, that car was from this area years ago, in fact I helped re-assemble it after it was restored and went to Pebble Beach. ok, back to the air cleaner----couldn't I just chrome my top and call it an LAT option?

That would satisfy part of the LAT 2 dress-up kit...

Dress-up Kit includes: Polished Aluminum Rocker Covers, Chrome Dipstick, Air Cleaners, Radiator Cap & Filter Cap.

The bottom was left painted 'hammertone' ...

Well... sold for US$1226.02 !! ...plus probably a re-chrome to make it presentable !

Is that what you'd call 'well sold' ??

At these prices I think I'll offer up my original 'tin' one for maybe $800 lol

I much prefer my 'home-brewed' effort for a quarter of that !!

home brew

Jim, Did you ever inquire to the maker of that unit about cutting it a little deeper and are they even available?

The Cost vs Values Thing

If you took 1965 Tiger purchase costs and moved the dollar values to today's currencies, what would one list for at a dealership? Auctions are a matter of needs, desires and disposable funds. Perhaps a generation factor is in the mix also. The stash of Beam parts & pieces in the barn lofts was always regarded as simply repair inventory. Now, it has outstripped our investment portfolios. Who knew? !? !?

Its supply and demand.. most cars seem to have lost the filter housing along the way.. now preople want them. A few years ago 1K was a going rate.. less was lucky.. recently its been 700ish.. i gather 2 people wanted this one.

I think the chrome had something to do with it.. peple assuming the LAT option was more valuable.. realisitically.. it has rust.. probably enough to scar the metal which means a fair bit of work to re-chrome.. its now a better candidiate for painting in the hamertone paint.

I think it was a bit high for what ti was.. if it had perfect chrome.. well maybe. glad my friend bought the one off this baord a month back, it took some proding before he did.. but is going on the right car and does finsh of the stock look nciely.

Yes... the one in my pic is a little 'deeper' as the CNC program was altered a bit...
I bought 2 and I think Randy ( Oneoffive) got one... I think you could still get one made although IIRC the machinist preferred doing 2 at a time because of setup.. PM me for contact info
It was discussed a while back in this thread... http://catmbr.org/VB_forum/showthread.php?t=1154
This won't fit everyone's setup though as I think the only filter element available is 2" high

I spoke to the gentleman making these, I was going to get one but my stock air cleaner rubs a little on the hood, dam tall intake. I really like the look of these, but no luck for me. I am in the process of having one made for the car, then I'll have 2 spare OEM air cleaners.:(

Have the carb surface of your manifold machined down. I have a Weiand 7515 and had 1/2" taken off. Engine is producing 454 HP so I don't think it reduced efficiency.
