Air cleaner paint color

I know it's been covered previously, but I'm still a bit confused. The BON says a hammered gray, a forum search here is ambiguous as is the forum on Tiger's East. There seems to be some mixup about Rustoleum's Hammered Gray, which is very dark, vs their Hammered Silver, which looks, at least to me, more correct. So, which one is it?
(Maybe I'm the one who needs to be hammered :)) :confused:

I use "cast finish" (Plasticoat/Krylon) , which appears to be dead on except under direct sunlight when shade & reflection diffs occur. Wait a few more seasons and you'll be able to dab it hot pink; there won't be enough survivors hangin' around to dispute the flavour.
 
I did mine in carbon fiber just to be different.

Air Cleaner Color

The stock (original... un-restored) air cleaner on my Mark 1 was definitely the "silver hammered" color... not the darker gray. Although I cannot remember for certain which brand of "hammered silver" I used to restore my air cleaner... it was a dead on match to the original. Definitely silver (not a "silver gray"). I believe it was a Rustoleum Silver Gray: http://www.rustoleum.com/cbgproduct.asp?pid=29

Thanks, guys. I was thinking more silver than gray.... That's what both the Plastikote and Rustoleum products look like.

Now the carbon fiber is interesting. I know a guy who could make a whole Tiger body out of it, but that's another story. ;)
