An easy project

I have heard that I should finish my drink before I go for a drive and that a lot of you don't care for a cup holder...however, since I am not the only person riding in the car and I hope to be going on some nice long top down drives this spring and summer, I wanted to come up with a solution that would allow me to have a cool sip while crusing along with the top down (or prevent putting a drink on the floor only to spill on my nice red carpets).

This project kept me busy for all of 45 minutes (an hour including paint time) and so I thought I'd share. Parts needed: A picture hanger and a clip on cup holder from your local boating store...total cost under $10.

I simply riveted the picture hanger to the underside of the radio bracket/bezel towards the front of the car and cut off the curly portion (springy clip) of the cup holder. The cup holder can then be inserted into the slot created or removed for shows etc.

Purchased cup holder with the curl cut off (but with enough left on so it won't slip out during quick acceleerations ;-) )

OT but whose carpet set is that? Not all that thrilled w/mine, should replace at some point but bright red is a must.

Seabrook, I would suggest Martha Wheat/Christensen of Pro-Prep Interiors. She did a fantastic job on my custom color back in the mid 80's and as of 2010 was still around.

Wow, didn't know Pro-Prep was still in business; her leather interior for my car turned out great but that was (???) 15 years ago.

Not 100% sure still around but at the time when I did a quick Google before posting Pro-Prep popped up as of 2010.
