Any leads on bumper straightening in California?

So, live in San Diego, took rear bumper to Lemon Grove plating here. Owner says the shop he uses in Riverside to straighten and prep the bumper for re-plating has gone out of business and he doesn't have an alternative. Any of the CAT folks know who could do this type of repair? Would rather not spend $200 shipping it out of state, but seems like there aren't many folks left around here who do that kind of work.

Comparison ?

AAA plating in Sacramento charged me $300 per blade. Guards were $25 each.

Interesting cost-to-quality comparison. My high end guys are 2 - 3 times that cost. The also-ran driver quality is about the same as the AAA quote. Of course, here in the Nor'east with lots of lakes & rivers, the EPA is just a constant nightmare for the chrome industry. If you ain't grandfathered in, you ain't doin' it. Period!

At $300 per, is that to straighten and plate, or just to straighten? I need mine done as well, in North Los Angeles County.

I have had good yet pricey exp. at Vernes on LA border.

In the thread above the guys Bob suggest sound tempting.
I have a core or two about that are straight and still need mine done.

If there was a group rate that would be great.

It's easier to get darker sunglasses....

I've used Vern's since I was in high school. Never been disappointed.

They are still located in Gardena. A Tiger bumper straightening and chroming starts at $250.

I can second Astro in the valley- I had a bumper show chromed- didn't need any straightening.

AAA price was to straighten and re chrome. I have used them for years with good success. They repaired my MkII headlight rings and they looked good as new on my last Tiger.

Chrome in San Diego County

Westcoast Plating 2613 Temple Heights Dr, Oceanside CA 92056 760-940-8777 Ask for Victor. They did every piece of chrome on my Tiger. My bumpers were not very straight when they went in and came out looking great as well as every other piece he did. He has been doing the chrome and stainless work for two of the best wooden boat restorers in the Country for many years and you know how picky thoose guys are. Must be doing something right!

Vern's

Like Buck, I have also used Vern's with good results. The owner, Bob, asked what kind of job I wanted, Pebble Beach or Redondo Beach. I told him Rosarito Beach.

When I picked up my Tiger the front bumper had a ~30 degree bend in the middle. The PO did some night time off-roading on a freeway off-ramp to avoid a stalled truck and ran over a number of road side markers.

Both bumpers needed straightening and rechroming - $190 each, bumperettes - $25 each. That was 10 years ago.

I was able to straighten the front valance and shelf and the bumpers came out perfect.

Bumpers

I had International Chrome Plating in Chula Vista do mine for B9471705, they were a little lumpy before and came back straight as an arrow, or rather, with the exact right curve and no blemishes. The price was right, too. They did every chrome piece on the car for less than DMF in Escondido wanted for the bumpers. Also, DMF quoted me THREE months to do them (and acted like they REALLY weren't interested in doing it at all), and International had everything back to me in a week. International is almost impossible to find, go to the address they list, you see nothing, they're in the autoshop area, down the driveway, to the right around the corner. PM me if you can't locate it. The shops nothing to look at, just a drop off and pick up place, they do everything in Tijuana, and have considerable experience doing chrome on show cars. Of the low to the ground variety. They also have a spotty schedule so it's best to call first and make an appointment. If the father answers, I don't think he speaks English, the son speaks English well.
