C.A.T. will be returning to the annual Queen's English All British Car Meet in Woodley Park in Van Nuys for our April meeting on Sunday, April 7. The car meet runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You can enter your car in the meet or park in the parking lot and see all the fantastic British cars on display, including some of our Sunbeams. We will hold our meeting around 10:30 a.m. and you might want to bring a folding chair. For more information about the car meet or to register for it, see www.queens-english.org.

The show is April 7th, a week from this Sunday. I just registered online for the show which saves $5 as opposed to registering at the event. We should have a great turnout! I plan on arriving by 9AM in order to get parked early. I suggest you register now at http://www.queens-english.org/

Merlin the Magnificent....?

[Well, I tried to post these pics a few weeks ago, but it didn't “take”. Clearly this is the fault of the system; it couldn't possibly be that I had no idea what I was doing. Yeah, that's the ticket, sure.] So this is an event from a few months ago.

For those who did not make it to the Queen's English Meet, & has not seen what was apparently one of Mr. Leno's latest creations, here are some samples.

And although I do not know the weight of that thing, as far as the engine itself, some quick math would suggest that a 27 liter, 1648 cu. in. Rolls-Royce / Merlin V12 is approx equal to a bit more than 6 of our 260 V8s, that's if you don't include a Supercharger the size of a Bass Drum strapped to the back of the Merlin.
In an obvious attempt at moderation, Mr. Leno has only used the “Single Stage” Supercharger version of the Merlin, not the slightly rowdier 2-Stage iteration. I'm sure any arresting officer will be impressed with that information.

The rest of the show seemed to me to have a larger turnout, with more cars, and with more unusual cars than last year.

After wandering around the UnBeam part of the show for just a bit tooo long, I did make it back to the Sunbeam Paddock just in time for the 12 o'clock Club Meeting that was apparently held at 11. [It couldn't' possibly be that I mis-read the time in the notice]. I will be adjusting my Sundial to Sunbeam time. I did get a few pics of various Sunbeams, but some were already leaving.
Some of the pics are captioned, but not all, so you are on your own. If anyone has any info to add, let me know & I will update the pic.
