Ashtray base

I am new to this forum. I just bought a 1A and it does not have the ashtray base or ashtray. Just the center console. Was the ashtray an option? It does not appear to have been from the info online.

If someone has the base, I would be interested in purchasing it. From looking online though, they appear to be rare.

So, could someone please measure their ashtray base and post the dimensions? I will just make a new one.
I know I can buy a remanufactured ashtray from England.

Thanks.

ashtray

The Tiger ash tray was mounted to the front of the center console. The tray for the Alpine was attached to the floor.

I have the center console but not the metal bit (base) that attaches to the front of the center console and holds he ashtray. That is the item I need dimensions for.

Shares the chrome ashtray. The sheet metal holder added to the standard Alpine center console will need to be fabricated.
First you need a pattern. And a way to bend the sheet metal.

You are right. That's why I would like someone to send me the dimensions and I will make a metal box to trim.

I have a rusted unit that can be copied. Or, I can put you in touch with someone who has the whole Tiger console. PM me if noone else steps up.

I had to do the same thing. Relatively easy to make when you have access to a sheet metal bender. Unless someone posts beforehand, Ill get the dimensions and post to this group over the weekend

Center Console

Is this the correct center console (first photo) for a Tiger? The 2nd photo is from the web. It appears it does not have the cutout notch at the front of the console.

The cutout sits over the rib on the driveshaft tunnel. Same console in both pics.. Just one has the ash tray

Great. Thanks.

I just need the ashtray dimensions and the ashtray.

New Console?

It might be easier to get a new console with its ashtray, unless you are trying to keep all of your Tiger's original parts where possible.

If I could buy one or both at a reasonable price, I will. I have only seen the center console for sale online, and they are in about the same condition as to what I have.

From the barn, complete, needs re-cover

Got to see the car and take the measurements. Sorry, missed the bottom length back to the console. Should be able to get that midweek if your still interested. Hope the picture of the drawing comes out ok and note - not to scale

Off the car

Manila file reverse engineering.
It's easier off the car but making a pattern off the tray holder is the ticket and the pony express was to deliver it.
False floor in passenger foot well, and many parts can be done this way.
Why just yesterday A member told me that another owner sent him a template for the Sunbeam letters on the front of the car and the pony express was to deliver it.

the chrome ashtray is the same as a Healey 3000 and available new from Moss Motors etc.

Something I had in CAD

Not sure about the measurements but It should get you close.

Cheers
Steve
