Attention shoppers MK2 hmmmm

Seller

Sent a pic of the vin and the lack of a fuel pump door..Man if it was closer to me. Too far away to be a player,

The only 4 bolt main 302 I know of is the Boss 302 but I don't think that would fit without some cutting. Won some nice awards 35 years ago......

Boss "Block"

Yes the Boss 302 block fits.... The Boss heads do not fit in a tiger but common 302 heads bolt on fine. The Boss was developed for TransAm sedan racing where the engines had to survive HIGH RPM like 7,500 plus whatever Parnelli thought would get him a pass. To make competitive HP from 5.0 limit the Boss heads had huge "tunnel" ports.

4 of 5 mains are 4 bolt and the crankshaft and rods were forged to help them survive the stress. Makes for bullet proof performance when limited to 6,500 rpm

Yep... the 'Boss' block is pretty much the same physical size as any other 302 and I've seen several cars that have one. There was also a car in the '70s that was in the Vancouver based club that had a full on 'Boss' motor, heads and all but there was some surgery required for those 'huge' heads!
Found this pic of one of Chester Bailey's many Tigers on Norm's site of one installed...wonder how the steering gets by there...

Thanks for the clarification---I thought I had seen a Boss motor in a Tiger back in the 80's at a TU in Oregon--red with flares. He had done some cutting to get it to fit I remember, but I didn't realize that a standard 302 head would bolt on. I just picked up a set of J code heads off of a 68 GT350, now need to build a motor.

I think this is when my flare addiction started.

Chuck Roberts of Mustangs only in San Jose had a Boss 302 powered Tiger with a Cross Boss intake and inline 4 barrel carb. Chuck unfortunately died and I don't know what happened to the car.

One time there was a crowd of people gathered around his car and he asked if anyone wanted a ride. I failed to notice that at everyone else turned and walked away so I was the last man standing there. Chuck told me to get in so I did. We were doing 120+ on Old Oakland road in San Jose. It was as if the throttle was stuck but that was just the way he drove. We were passing trucks on the right side as they stopped for railroad tracks. Scared the crap out of me.

We got back to the shop in one piece. I then understood why everyone turned and walked when Chuck was looking for a passenger.

This car was soooo fast. When Chuck died he was in the process of having Nitrous installed in the car.

Pics

The pic in the original listing had a funky shadow where the fuel pump door would normally be. Seeing the shadow in the original made me sit and bite off several fingernails and a few precious hairs fell out of my head. I did eBay message the seller, he provided these pics. I waffled further and he pulled the BIN ad. I guess it is a good thing as had I of hit the BIN there would have been no way I would have tried to force him to sell. This is truly a great project .

Shadow

Duke what I was saying was in original listing a shadow appeared to be a fuel pump door.
I had asked for a pic of the area as I was paralyzed with doubt. Well at least my Buy it now finger was. Even some of us lowly non TAC trained types know there's no fuel pump door on a MK2
