I think the authors knowledge of European cars certainly came through in his assessment.
"European machines of the same year produces some interesting comparisons.
For example, for just $3,318 you could have bought a brand-new Alfa Romeo 1600 Spider. There was the $3,425 Sunbeam Tiger, which boasted the same 289-cubic-inch Windsor V8 as the base Cougar, stuffed into a flimsy Rootes Group sports car that was eager to crash in most manly fashion. We're not sure what the '67 Glas GT's original cost was, but it was an affordably testosterone-saturated proto-BMW sports car"
To call the glas testosterone saturated... They are a very pretty often noted as effete car, so how he comes up with that is beyond me.... The tiger would be considered anything but flimsy... In fact it is a considerably over engineered body compared to open stateside muscle cars of the period.... Seems like the author either has never looked in my h detail at European imports... Or is just blind to all but his local product... Some poor flag waving.
