The car with the mkii vin B382100220LRXFE is being advertised at fantasy junction currently.

This car was for sale for the best part of 5 years here in Melbourne... It's now being touted as " a genuine Mark II, the 120th example built. " .... I strongly advise anyone interested in the car to have a tac inspection or demand fantasy junction sign a contract that they stand behind its claim as a "genuine car" .

I contacted the seller and they will contact Tom Hall for a TAC inspection.

Lets see if it happens.

Here is the reply to my question -
"Dear Duke;

It was restored in Australia, so I don’t know about the certification. We would be happy to have anyone familiar with Tigers inspect the car, and could make the certification part of the agreement. If you know who to call, we would be happy to start the process. We have a couple of people interested in the car, so if it sells to one of them, they may or may not be interested in getting that done. Meanwhile, we are open to starting the process.

Car Color

Maybe it is a trick of the lighting, but why does the car color appear to be blue in the photo showing the VIN plate and all of the other photos show the car's color to be Forest Green? :confused:
 
Well the vin has been off and is attached with incorrect rivets... But that's the case on many cars.... I will be very interested to see what a tac inspection outcome is....

I think tom recently part inspected another mkii in Australia that had been restored... Car was tac pre resto iirc, but not afterwards.

David car is all forest green, just the lighting

I think Michael is just trying to remain PC in hinting as to how this car is being presented "... a genuine MKII...", without actually saying what he probably knows, or has strong suspicions about this car. He is just saying have it checked out.
I would probably do the same if a questionable car from the States was headed Down Under.

That being said - I would not even think about putting down 200G's of my money without having a second set of experienced eyes look at that car (and I have been playing with Tigers for 35 years).

Why has this car not already been TAC certified? Makes one think maybe it would not pass certification???

I know Bruce, a bit, from my vintage racing days. He is a straight forward guy...he and his wife actually had a Tiger a number of years ago. He won't want to be associated with selling something misrepresented, I believe.

Tom Hall has been in Australia the last month. I'm not sure if he's back yet, but if he is, he may have some scuttlebutt on this one :)

If he's back, I'll see if I can tag along. Always fun to check out the inventory at Fantasy Junction and I can lend my signature to the TAC cert, if Tom needs another inspector...if there is a certificate, that is

Bruce still has a Tiger and is a very honorable person; or has been to me.

As I recall a buyer bought a Fantasy Junction car then was grilled on its entry into the Netherlands.

Sure those aren't even reasonable facsimile rivets. It seems unusual for a car to come back to the US but I suppose a few grand is peanuts on this one.

You'd think they'd get a decent radio housings other than that made in Japan one.
 
Lots of collector cars have been leaving Australia to UK, Europe and states in the last year due to the drop in our currency. The reverse of the reason the cars flooded here in 2007-11.

The car was for sale here for aud 100-120k over the years... When aud was worth 1.10usd that's a lot... Current aud to USA is .70 .... So a aud100k tiger is only 70k usd..... Starts to stack up... If you get a legitimate car.

Ray listed the car to auction in 2014 at Shannon's in Melbourne, it was withdrawn before auction apparently sold to south Australia. It has now gone to the USA. The advertised price when on net sites such as car sales.com.au over the years it was listed price would fluctuate with season and market... But no sale
 
200K and they cant get the soft top right and tight! You have to wonder what other kind of "back-yard-billy" work was done. What a joke (shame).
