I was wondering if any of you guys are familiar with this car? Located in Calif. Described as a 100% survivor with 32,000 original miles. If anyone can talk about its condition from their knowledge would appreciate it. Thanks.

OMG...replace the old, yellowed, brittle fuel filter. I am sure that goes for every single inch of rubber fuel line too. Some things are just not smart to have original. Why have the VIN and fluids plates have had the rivets replaced?

Mi.

Was this the same car listed last year or there about Sept or October in Michigan? Or in the Midwest?
The one that was shown under a lift? It had the same survivor script and claim.
Also had the same R n R on the tag question,
Probably a simple corner respray,
Looks like some familiar names on the TAC certificate :) can't read dates on little screen.

duke,
the spec plate looks as if it may be a replacement due to it's good condition and I would guess the vin plate may have a rub off on it due to the condition of it.

Makes You Wonder

Per the photo, the TAC form was signed by the inspectors on 4/22/2006. (Was there a Tigers United in April, 2006 which would have brought together the inspectors, or did they inspect the car at a CAT event?) However, the TAC form indicates that the car had original VIN plate rivets when it was inspected. Now, some folks are questioning if the VIN plate rivets are original. And the car is now reported to have original paint. I would sure like to see if the original TAC inspection sticker is in place.

Another thing is that the car had a personalized license plate at the time of the TAC - 6TIGER5. Now, the car has a contemporary (but not personalized California plate. According to the paperwork shown in the listing, the owner since is 2003 is someone who lives in Iowa. The car had a little over 31,000 miles in 2003. In the last 10 years, only about 1,300 miles has been added to the odometer - not sure that's enough to drive the car from California to Iowa Yeah, it could have been trailered from California to Iowa. It just seems like a lot of anomalies to account for.

The car does look like a beautiful example and will probably sell for a good penny.

Some small odds n ends - trunk false floor looks like replacement; fan shroud repainted; reverse light stuck to chassis up high - has the car been repainted?
Usually the red turns to an orangish red.

That sure looks like my signature on the TAC certificate and it sure looks like my SoCal crews' as well. TACing in SoCal is consistent with the California plates. The vendor, Checkered Flag is long established and local.

However I can guarantee you our TAC crew never traveled to Canada nor Iowa to do TAC that car. It had to be done locally.

It's been long enough that I don't clearly remember that car but the evidence suggests we TACed it 7 plus years ago here in SoCal.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

It doesn't meet reserve,
Buck if you could remember every red car you looked at we might have to suspect you of being an alien:cool:
I think the current plate number is consistent with the 2006 TAC date. Vanity plates often get kept by a sentimental seller. Duke has a point the car is a hider not a rider with those old brittle hoses etc.

Would relish the chance to kick her tires...
If someone is interested lots of us within 10 miles.

Lots of questions about a respray on the auction. I wonder what a look under the JAL tag would reveal?

Just happened to click on the link with a minute 30 left so I watched it tick down... no last minute bids and didn't meet reserve at $44700 bid...

I fired off an e mail to the owner Todd Gifford,as I didn't recognize his name in any directory and living close in Cedar Rapids Iowa. He e-mailed me back inquiring how to access this Forum. For anyone interested, his e-mail is: tgifford@dee-inc.com to clarify concerns raised. He's a CHEBBY plastic racecar guy.

Todd tried to get posted as a guest on the forum but failed. The car has had an exterior respray of the same color, but I take it no body restoration. The exhaust, top, and horn ring were replaced. He purchased the car when he lived in California before returning to Iowa. He's also a blog www.toddgifford.com or 319 365 7551
