From a private collection we're working on. Just thought to share this with you guys. The bell has the exact same casting script & numbers as the narrow-case Cobra, but with the word Tiger in it. C3RA 6394-A . Not sure what the "Wedge F2 - 3" means? Certification of some sort ?

Me thinks Wedge is the company that made it...I know Wedge made automotive stuff, not sure what their product line entails.

Awesome

Totally cool wish I had access to the old high school metal shop with its sand casting and foundry equipment.
Be a shame to put it on a car and never see it. It would make a great clock wall hanging though.. :)

Clang !!

Being grade A steel, it's both very heavy and has a loud "ring" to it . . . . .:D

many of the aftermarket ford parts and shelby parts were done for Tigers too.. all it required was a change in the lettering from cobra. That's the first non-period picture of the "TIGER" bellhousing i have seen.. super cool.. not that you can really see it`on the car!

The rocker covers, manifolds, sumps all came in for "tiger"ing and make very cool period options.

In one of Norm's magazines he showed a Tiger that had just about every LAT option installed including the same type bell housing. A bit over done for a treet Tiger though.

More Tidbits from the collection

Don't see these much anymore. This one was well used. I'm curious as to what the actual flow performance differences were to the early F4B ?

Randy,

That TIGER manifold looks like the mid rise one they did.. there was a website where they dyno tested a bunch of SBF 4BBL manifolds F4b, weiands, COBRA and they also did the TIGER midrise.. wills ee if i can find the site.. but might have been a link to it on the forum a few years back.. or on the mailing list.

tiger intake performance

ok..found the site:

seems they used the low rise one for the assesment;

Interesting article! The surprise in the testing was the Edelbrock Performer dual plane. It looks like a good choice for a relatively stock Ford small block engine at up to 5000 RPM. My personal experience with this manifold is that it offers very good low-end torque and drivability for the street, especially when it is coupled with one of their Performer (AFB) carburetors.

intakes

Hi Michael, thanks for posting that article.

I remember seeing this some time ago and being surprised how well (like wag just said in his post) the f4b does even when it's compared to intakes that would have no chance fitting under the hood of a tiger.

WEDGE BELHOUSING

FORD HAD PART NUMBERS C4Z-6394-A FOR THE 5 BOLT, AND C5ZZ-6392-A FOR THE 6 BOLT WEDGE MANUFACTURED SCATTERSHIELDS. I HAVE THE 6 BOLT UNIT FOR MY HIPO 289 WITH BOTH NARROW AND WIDE BOLT TRANSMISSION BOLT PATTERN. MINE IS A TWO PIECE PIECE WHICH MADE CLUTCH REPLACEMENT EASY WHEN MY THROWOUT BEARING FAILED. FORD SWAP MEETS, CRAIG'S LIST, AND EBAY ARE THE ONLY SOURCES.

Wedge

I have the club copy of The Book of Norm. Just finished reading it. In the section on LAT parts it shows that same bell housing. The section said it is a steel scatter shield and other than the cast letters is the same as cobra. If I recall correctly it was marketed by Shelby to Garrad.

Wedge

Cast by Wedge. They also cast at least one other item but book not in front of me as I am at work, and book safely at home!!
