Interesting ebay auction... and some interesting claims about the car:

This Tiger is a beautiful example of its model.It is possibly the finest available in the world currently.It has a frame off ,ground up total restoration with less than 50 test miles since completion this year.

Best in the world.... must have been a huge destruction of tigers in the last few days... "frame off" .. wonder how they did that.. installed a frame and then took the car off it?

16" wheels are new and the only non-stock factory item due to the size

Sure.. if you ignore all the ther parts ion the car that aren't stock.. shifter, dash, the flared guards front and rear, incorrect trimming of the rear parcel shelf, no GT door trims, door top rolls, GT 1/4 bases, rear view mirror, no over riders on the rear, air filter housing, oil filer cap... there is more.. but why bother....

then there is the VIN screws... and the attention to detail on the side badges... :rolleyes:

I asked a few E-Bay Q's with no response. Are those round corner doors with that high a Serial number ? :cool:

indeed they are Randy, and the tigers switched to square corner doors quite a bit before the MKIA... that said. has a square corner bonnet and boot.. someone may have used round doors on a square car. easier than putting a square door on a round corner car (and i mean as in keeping the square corner not trimming it round to fit the opening) But it has lost its GT doors .. there are several "issues" with the car.. bidding is going high for what looks like an "interesting" purchase.

He is clearly out of his element .
Those stainless steel screws are way more expensive than rivets,

I was surprised to read in the ad hyperbole that it's the best Tiger in the world, I was sure I saw a quite few at TU that were superior... my eyesight must be going.

Well, at least this guy made the fake data plate the right shape, if not the right thickness or letter stamps... Seems like of one was going to go to the trouble you'd try a little harder for authentic looking details.

The car looks ok but something is not right on those wheel arches.

The chassis plate is interesting. It looks real, but just really shined up and, of course, attached with screws. The numbers look authentic... maybe too straight?? The fonts changed on those things, depending on the position of the number and which line. The factory tags were "consistently inconsistent." ;)

Get over the "Best" thing. What the ad said: "It is possibly the finest available in the world currently."

1. Possibly or virtually - maybe? or probably not are all interchangeable. All are speculative not stating a certainty. Just puffing it up.

2. Available in the world currently. That limits the universe to only Tigers for sale for a single moment in time. Which is now over.

This ad is a hoot for sure, but do you ever accept the seller's word without verification? Of course not.

I questioned (worlds finest) here is his response=How do you know you haven't seen it.Excuse my personal opinion and semantics.I'm finding Tiger owners to be one trick pony and not British or car enthusiasts.Lighten up.I own 427 cobras,vipers,512 ferrari the list goes on.Don't put yourself in a box.We are car enthusiasts not car snobs cheers
 
Funny stuff

Cut and paste BS from seller,
On Sep-12-13 at 19:22:01 PDT, seller added the following information:

I have been corrected on the engine of the car.It is a 289 not 260.It is correct for the car thought the documentation plate in the engine bay says 260.That was added during restoration and should be a 289 plate. .It also has a hi performance clutch not stock oem. Serious bidders should inspect the car to verify in person the facts I have listed.They are correct.Thank you.

That is really funny let me see if I can find a 289 plate from Sunbeam Specialties or maybe some comic book X ray glasses to see if it really is a 289 diameter bore or casting under the intake manifold. "It is correct for the car," he must be a subscriber to the urban Tiger myth of 289 in a Mk1A.


Oh and here is a good one. A cut and paste from the auction below. Seller chooses not to add any of his pitiful excuses with George et al.
The guy is nuts, we are not snobs. It is a valuable function of any car, motorcycle,bicycle,group to sit back and snipe at the inaccurate fabrications of a seller used to lure the nube buyer. If you are at Pomona, Long Beach car swap events guys stand around and critique cars for sale then move on. He is right about one thing in his suggestion to see the car in person. We have the luxury of a 1st world hobby of doing it while in the comfort of our easy chairs and even while upside down like Micheal.:)

We can only hope that a bidder looks here first before spending effort to see"possibly" the best tiger in the world.

Hey, Warren show some respect for my efforts, to make sure I am seeing the right thing when looking at USA ebay I actually turn the computer monitor 180deg so i see it as it would appear in the states! :D

As for this responses about it being the best car for sale in the world at the moment... as i said in my earlier posts.. must have been the destruction of a lot of good for sale tigers recently.

The workmanship on the car is sloppy.. the way the scripts and the side stripe DONT line up is very poor.. the flaring on the guards is very odd and as for the guys Tiger knowledge.. well lets just say it matches the attention to detail on the car... The bidding is running high.. and as with all these kind of auctions methinks the seller has quite a bit of shilling going on.. otherwise there really are some very green car buyers out there.
