The fantastic and deep database of Tiger knowledge you know as Tiger Tales will soon be on this forum. Once scanned by an able crew, I will post all 46 years of Tiger Tales in the CAT Members section. If you are a CAT member now, at this time you can see five years posted to include the first year, 1969.

If you are not a CAT member, you can not see that section. Another reason to join!

This link will take you to the membership section - CAT Membership Page

If you are a member and do not have "Member of C.A.T." under your User Title, let Rick (TigerBlue) know so he can verify and get you access to the members only (cool jackets) section.

This Forum ROCKS!!! Bng

Re: Big News

Alright! Several years ago Chuck Daly and I were trying to figure out a way to get this done. He has a lot of Tiger Tales; I have a lot of Tiger Tales, but, neither one of us had a complete set. Glad to see this happening now. Another feather in the cap of CAT! Bravo!! Kirk.

Great job Duke. So my buddy Chuck Daly was a founding member and CAT stands for California Associated Tigers.

Bill, from my understanding, CAT originally wanted CATO (California Association of Tiger Owners), but, CATO was already taken, so, it was shortened to CAT (but still stands for the same thing).

I was not a founding member, but, joined around late '70 or early '71...let my membership lapse after awhile- too busy with school, girlfriends, motorcycles, and the Tiger. Can't find my early TT's- might still show up in a box over at the folk's house. Kirk

Tiger Tales Scanning help needed

Hi all, as Duke announced we are planning on putting all the past issues of Tiger Tales on the forum. Right now all the issues from 2008 to 2015 are posted along with the first two issues printed in 1969.

Everything else will need to be scanned and uploaded to a Google Drive location Duke has already set up. From there he will sort them in files by year and then post them.

The best way to do this is to have as many people involved as possible. Most CAT people I know save their TT's but even if you are new to the Tiger world I bet your Tiger came with a box of TT's.

Last year Gary C. went through CAT's collection of TT's along with a donated set from the late Herb Mosley.

There are still missing pieces, if you have a fairly comprehensive set of TT's please compare it to the list I'll post at the end of this message. We obviously want this to be as complete as possible.

We plan to scan everything in color at 300dpi. Each page is about 700mb so a single 16 sided TT results in an 11mb file. There is a lot of material so the more people that help the better the experience will be.

Let me know by PM if you can help and what issues you have. From there I'll figure out a schedule so this is only done once.

If there is anyone out there that has an suggestions on how this process can be improved let me know.

thanks
Bob J.

Great Job Bob.

Coordination is needed with Bob if you have one of the missing or want to take on scanning those you have. Bob can then check them off as they get posted on Google Drive.

The google drive location is this:

Log into google -
Email - tigertalesdb@gmail.com
Password - **********

Just go to the top right of the screen near the email address and click on the grid, then select drive. You will then see all the folders that you can drop the .pdf files in.

THIS WILL BE FUN!!!! :p

Calling all old guys

I've assembled a complete set of Tiger Tales with the exception of Jan through October 1970.

I have the Nov. and Dec 1970 issues but that's it.

Also, it looks like there were only (2) 1969 Tiger Tales, Volume 1, Issues 1 and 2.

If anyone has anything else from that year let me know, thanks.

Missing years

I may be too late, but I've got a handful of TT's from the mid 80's. If they're still needed I can dig them up.

This Board is a Treasure!

I just want to "weigh in" about how great this forum is, and how it just keeps on getting better and better, and also voice my appreciation for all the hard work Duke, et al, has/have done over the recent months.

Happy to be here and look forward to many more years of Tigering.

Tigers are not for just anybody, but then again, none of us is/are just "everybody." :)

Ok guys....you can start scanning and loading the files up any time now. Bob has been doing most of the work thus far.

O.K. ... if you can bear with me for a couple more weeks, I 'should' be able to start uploading some... I've been pulled out of ''retirement' to build a garage 'mahal' for a buddy so time has been at a premium.

I have full years... 1985, 1991, 1992, and 2001 plus a whole bunch of part years from 1988 on up ... plus all of the last few years but most of them are already done.
I will commit to doing those 4 'full' sets that I have but it might take 'til the end of July... ( Bob, pencil me in for those ;) )

BIG kudos to anyone who's stepped up to scan what's already on line !!:cool: I know it's a thankless job but I think it was a great idea and know that many will enjoy looking through them

tiger tales

Hi Jim, I'll put you down for those years, thanks for offering to do those. There is no major rush, do them at your convenience.

We are scanning in color at 300dpi. Like Duke mentioned he set up a google drive site so once you have the files you can upload them directly to that location.

If someone can help scan but you don't have a library of TTs I can mail extra copies of TTs that came from the CAT warehouse. In the 80's and 90's some years have 10 copies of each edition. Since these are extras anyway they would be yours to keep once the scanning is done.

Let me know, thanks.

Will be posting 1975 TT as soon as I get back to work. Had back surgery on Monday and am taking it easy. All those helicopter hours and other things caught up with me.

Good evening,

New to the forum, . . . recently retired. Don't yet own a a Tiger, but I still have my 68' GT500 of 45 years.

I've recently acquired a sizable collection of over 300 CTOA Tiger Tales newsletters ranging between the years of 1978 - 2010, . . . so if there are still any missing issues needed for the C.A.T. webpage then please reach out and I will share them post haste.

And now of course I'm also looking to fill in the gaps in my ( new ) collection as well.

Here's what I DON'T have:

  • 1969 Vol 1 no issues
  • 1970 Vol 2 no issues
  • 1971 Vol 3 no issues
  • 1972 Vol 4 no issues
  • 1973 Vol 5 no issues
  • 1974 - will assume no issues were published during 1974
  • 1975 Vol 6 no issues
  • 1976 Vol 7 no issues
  • 1977 Vol 8 no issues

* 1979 - will assume no issues were published during 1979

  • 1981 Vol 11 # 9 Oct missing
  • 1981 Vol 11 # 10 Nov missing
  • 1981 Vol 11 # 11 Dec missing

* 1985 Vol 15 # 7 July missing

* 1990 Vol 20 # 12 Dec missing

  • 1997 Vol 27 # 7 July missing
  • 1997 Vol 27 # 9 Oct missing

* 1998 Vol 28 # 4 May missing

* 1999 Vol 29 # 10 Dec / Jan missing

  • 2007 Vol 37 # 1 Jan / Feb missing
  • 2007 Vol 37 # 6 Nov / Dec missing

* 2009 Vol 39 # 6 Dec missing

  • 2010 Vol 40 # 1 Jan / Feb missing
  • 2010 Vol 40 # 5 Sept / Oct missing
  • 2010 Vol 40 # 6 Nov / Dec missing

* I have no further issues beyond this time frame. ☹

Thoughts ?

Nice start to your collection. Through years of research, collecting, purchasing, and connections made over the years, I've got a pretty comprehensive collection (and list) of the first 20 years of Tiger Tales. I joined CAT for the first time in late '70 or early '71 but have not come across my TT's for those years. They may still be in the attic of my parents' house. I rejoined CAT in the late 80's and have every issue since then. Since the bulk of your missing TT's are from the early years (and those are the hardest to verify by publication), I'm attaching a photo of that list so you will have an accurate idea of what you're looking for. Happy hunting! Kirk

Many thanks for the more accurate TT list. That helps.

And yes, I concur re the occasional printing sequence anomalies.

Still need to go complete my C.A.T. membership dues to the view the Google Drive "TT" newsletter archive list database.

All fine.
