Buyer BEWARE!

Picture

Saw the guy's picture on Facebook he's got the look of thank goodness I don't have a daughter. I feel your pain mon :(

Hmmmmm !

There seems to be a lack of information about the gentleman thru the usual public channels ? It's appropriate to ask him to explain his behaviour, yes?

Well, today marks a month since I sent Patrick Johnson, of Chicago, $1300 cash for parts he said he shipped that day. That turned out to be the first lie out of many that stretched over weeks. Now all communication has stopped. Texts, emails, and FB messages go unanswered.
I trusted him because he was a part of the Tiger community, and he assured me his reputation was deep in the Tiger tracks, with his dad starting this and that, bla, bla, bla. Lies, lies and more lies.
Don't let this happen to you. If you don't know the person, send NOTHING until you have the goods in your grubby hands. I am now $1300 short for my Tiger project.

Thanks for sharing as I am also on the hunt for Tiger parts to rebuild my Tiger, this will make me a little (lot) more careful...

I sold a rearend to man in France who had no idea of the shipping costs to get it to him. He paid for the rear but then was stuck with it sitting at my house after realizing the shipping costs.

Patrick Johnson posted on the Facebook Tiger group that he needed a rearend ASAP. I contacted him and explained the story, we agreed on price and he gave me a couple weekends that were good to pickup. So I discussed with and refunded the man in France. All communication stopped and no deposit was ever given. After pressing him, I got a response with a BS story about having trouble and the holidays approaching, etc. Then absolutely no more communication. I ended up selling to a guy who coming to get a motor and trans but I lost $300 on the deal.

That's what you get trying to help someone out who claims to be in a jam. I wouldn't waste any more time dealing with the clown.

I'll just put a caveat on this....

While there seems to be a pattern here I had seen him posting lots on the teae forum when I was more active. He was long time member and was rebuilding his dads car after a shunt? Had sunbeam tiger tattoos?

Anyway .... Has he posted on Facebook or teae lately? He might not be around, unwell, away etc..

Only reason I bring this up is I recall Jim E losing patience with a guy who was a dead beat payer... Jim was patient, emails calls etc... Them finally posted.... Then we found out guy had passed away....

So.... Check to see if he's still active on the forum, check last activity.... If he hasn't been online in a bit there MAY be a legit reason...

But pattern above doesn't look good either way.

Oh, he's alive all right. I've emailed his girlfriend through FB and she seemed like she was trying to help. To no avail.

I live outside of Chicago and have heard the name Patrick before and may have met him at an event. It is my understanding that he has parts but is not reliable in a timely fashion. Please provide any details you have about him and maybe I can do a drive by. Facebook link, address, etc

Buyer Beware

Contact the Illinois States Attorneys Office. Lisa Madigan is the States Attorney. You might get some help there. Send a letter to this guy or email talling him that you are doing this. It might help.Bill

What happens in Vegas doesn't nessassarily stay in Vegas.

Thanks for all the support. Many have reached out and offered help and advice. At this point, I am hoping his girlfriend, who I reached out to through Facebook can help get this thing done, or my money back. I am very skeptical eat this point.
I will keep you all up to date when it gets resolved, or continues to drag on.

Paul

Bought some valve covers from a guy in Detroit a few years ago. Paid upfront and then he kept giving me excuses as to why they weren't shipped. Dad was sick, taking care of mom, etc.

After nearly a year and a half of excuses I told him I would be stopping by his place to collect while on a business trip in his neck of the woods. Told him I would be accompanied by local law enforcement. A few days later the valve covers arrived on my doorstep in California. They now proudly sit on top of the 392 Hemi in my Hillman Husky. :------

Stay persistent and let him know you're not going away and maybe you'll get your parts or money back.

Looks like some interesting double identity going on.....

So is the David Teal Facebook profile a fake name... Or the new. patjohnson_67 eBay account started this year with 0 feedback a fake .... Either way.. Looks suspicious.... Maybe post the eBay link to Facebook in that thread ....

Mike,
I currently 1/2 settled. I still have not heard from PJ but by working through his girlfriend on FB I was able to get partial shipment. She said she will come through on the rest, but needs some time to get PJ off his fat pads.

Fakebook

And the special deal of 700 bucks for rear window hard top trim. What a joke.

That's how he can offer free shipping on such a large item..... he doesn't ship!

'Luckily' his auction has surpassed the $700 'he' was asking for the item on Facebook.

It would seem that 2 new ebayers are really keen to get their hands on it.

2 new ebayers bidding it up both with 0 feedback on an auction with a seller with 0 feedback and new account who has the item listed under a different on alias on Facebook tiger group ..... Yeah I'd feel confident nothing untoward is going on.... :O

I've got money on the table betting that Mr. r***r (1175) is going to get a 2nd Chance Offer to buy it at his $750 bid.

I hope he doesn't take it. I think the going price for the rear window stainless is $350 - $450. Anyone see one go for $750+?

John
