CAT is hosting an Autocross / Drivers Training this coming Saturday at Long Beach Veterans Stadium.

7AM for volunteers to help setup the track
8AM for Tech
9AM Mandatory Drivers meeting

We need a good turnout to break even. I've been distracted by other projects and also have been out of town a bit. To be honest, I have not done a good job informing the membership about this event. Help me by calling your Tiger friends to remind them.

See Details in Tiger Tales or call me if you have questons.

thanks,

Good Turnout

The weather was great. Jere and Chris and Buck had everything organized and the track laid out was fairly tight. I never got out of first gear.

I did not get a chance to count all of the Tigers and the one Alpine, but we had a great turnout. I'd estimate around 15 Sunbeams, one Mazda Miata, and one Toyota MR2, as I recall. Since I was driving in Group 2, I did not get any photos of those cars, but was able to get some of Group 1 on the track.

Looked like everyone had a great time. Thanks guys!

Here are some of the cars in the first group to hit the course Saturday morning.

And here are some more photos taking during the first group's runs.

And here are nine more photos taken of the first group. As stated earlier, this is about half of the cars that ran.

Thanks for the pics. Big helmets, small cars.

The side vents look nice on TQT 019. Are they functional?

How does 65 enjoy the wink mirror? I enjoy mine. Makes it quite easy to thread the needle going down the freeway. A newer side mirror helps a lot too.

How does 65 enjoy the wink mirror?

That's Tiger racer Tom Sakai in his street Tiger. (with an engine that had dyno'ed at over 500HP before it was "de-tuned" to make it more streetable). Tom uses a Wink mirror in both his race and street Tigers. He "loves them" in both Tigers. He says "a quick glance is all it takes".

BTW, I just got an email from "Wink" (aka Bob Winklemann). He's still rolling along and still living up in Muir Beach. He and his brother developed what we now call the Wink Mirror decades ago. Then the cheap knock-offs hit the market. He doesn't get a penny from them now.
