A quick reminder that we have a CAT Membership Meeting this Saturday morning.

It will start at 8:30 at the Toyota U.S.A. Automobile Museum, 19600 Van Ness Ave., Torrance, CA 90501. We'll be able to tour this very unique collection before having a short meeting.

see you there,

Buck Trippel

Cool Collection

The Toyota museum is a very cool collection of what you expect - Toyotas. This is a good chance to see, for example, a 2000GT (from the late 60's, as I recall). I even saw a mid-60s Stout pickup, just like what my dad bought at a dealership that was also a Shelby American dealership. In spite of my pleas as a 15 year-old, my dad bought the Stout instead of the Cobra I was arguing for. I guess he felt the Cobra would not be too good for hauling donuts (he owned a donut shop). Anyway, there are a lot of well-preserved Toyotas over the decades on display.

I should drive my 300k mile Toyota down--maybe they want it. :)
Post pics, always nice to see museums.

cat meeting

Hi Cobrakidz, since this is turning into a Toyota testimonial thread, in the mid 90's I had my 195,000 original mile toyota pickup stolen from outside my shop in the middle of the day.

It was recovered a couple of days later less the motor, trans, bench seat (two big rips) and the tailgate.

The small time car thieves loved those 22r motors even if they had a couple of hundred thousand miles on them.

Interesting, slightly off thread, some years ago a machine shop was fitting a Toyota 5 speed to my Sunbeam Alpine. The best bellhousing he could find that matched the starter hole etc, came from a Toyota Stout ute. So my Alpine has a Stout bellhousing with a steel case (bullit proof) 5 speed transmission.

I always thought an Alpine with a Toyota 22R and 5 speed would be great. I am on my 3rd one and they are great.
