CAT Link

How do you join CAT? I don't see a link to the club here?

Double check at the very bottom of this page. You should see a blue line stretching across the bottom and there is a link in there for the CAT Home Page.

By the way, Rick is our Treasurer. His lovely wife, Bonnie, is our Membership Chairperson. The links that others have already posted are good.

Welcome to CAT! If you live in SoCal, hope to see you at one of the upcoming meetings!

I just had to sign up again...paypal problem- wouldn't take the card on file, even though it's a perfectly good card. I hope it doesn't screw up my membership number or anything else!

PayPal Subscriptions

PayPal is only a means of payment. They know nothing about your status as a new Member or returning Member. Membership Queen Bonnie knows all in that regard.

Starting an active PayPal "Subscription" is convenient payment to CAT and for automatic annual payment to timely renew your Membership for anther year.

PayPal will drop or cancel subscriptions if the expiration date they have on file for your credit card has passed. (If that is the only means of payment.) Likewise if you have no card on file? but rely on keeping a cash balance to pay? And they cannot pay us in full they pay nothing and cancel the "Subscription".

PayPal notifies CAT of Canceled Subscriptions. Membership chair and Treasurer may contact the Member to determine the best next step for continued membership or confirm that membership is not to be renewed.

In other words, your card will be charged automatically every year thereafter (until expiration) without your involvement.

If you want your card only charged once you'll have to manually cancel your "subscription" after making the current payment to CAT via PayPal.

Send Money (please)

A'Nuther way to hook up with CAT for another (or first) year without the "Subscription"?

Open your PayPal account. (Or register for one)

Look for the "Send Money" option. Send Money to membership@catmbr.org

Current rates for 12 months:

Address is:

USA $35.00
Canada $37.00*
Other International $45.00*

* all in US Dollars, Postage costs more of course to mail TT to Canada and other countries. Also FYI the current costs of printing and mailing TT for 6 issues a year is near break even. CAT is financially stable Events primarily and Parts usually (but not always) return positively.

Justin, I had to replace the card that paypal was authorized to charge. The new card was accepted by paypal, yet failed to charge my account properly, so my CAT subscription needed to be renewed. Paypal could not find a fix- they're suggestion was to start a new account with CAT. A hassle I shouldn't have had to deal with. My concern was that my CAT subscriptions might overlap, or I might be given a different member number, or any number of complications. Thankfully, Rick and Bonnie are on top of things!

hottigr, Rick is the one to listen to in regards to this. I'm just telling what works for me.

As far as overlapping subscriptions is concerned I would guess CAT would just add an additional payment to the end of the current year's amount.

There should be no worries about having problems with your CAT membership number unless maybe you don't keep current for some period of time. There is a report of "returning members" in every issue so CAT does keep track of previous members but I'm not sure if when returning they get their old membership number back or not.

Personally the first couple times I canceled my subscription via PayPal I was rather nervous that no payment would be made as their response is just "subscription canceled" and no mention of "payment made". And it is a bit of additional work to figure out how to cancel.

I think next time I'll try as Rick suggested and use the "Send Money" option which is a done deal once the payment is sent.

On a side note--it would be nice if the club made nice laminated membership cards for the members. Just a thought.

Who wants to volunteer to make them, to send them out to the 600+ members and also pay for the project? "It ain't me, babe." ;)

Of that Sonny and Cher tune. If you had a nice laminated card Bruce or George what would you do with it?

Guys chill, Bruce that will be easy for you, and try to think of the camel and putting one more straw on our volunteer camels back. Be it headers or membership card its made to happen by time permitting labor .

I know this suggestion was made with a :) attached even if omitted.

Being a expert at few things but incredibly good at making do with what we have.
Maybe someone has a tool or suggestion on a easy mod to our existing CAT club sticker.
Lots of good reasons to brand your car with a sticker. How many for sale cars have you seen over the years with a old CAT sticker hanging on, how cool would it be to see a member name on it too?

True I get a kick out of seeing old frayed CAT stickers in the widows of Tigers but personally I don't like them, any sticker, on my cars.
