In about two weeks I will be sending in some Smiths clocks for cleaning and conversion to Mike Eck, the clock guy. He can also paint the hands red if you have a clock with white hands in your tiger for no extra cost. He has quoted $65 per clock so if you bring your clock to the club meeting I will include it in my shipment and you can have the better price and save shipping too. My treat on the shipping. I will be fixing up some Mk2 and Mk1 clocks a few for friends and a few for resale and one for my car. See some of you Saturday. Lee Pearl

Lee--thanks for shipping my clock, that is a great offer you have presented to the club members. Can't wait to have the correct clock in my Tiger (even though Warren was the only one to point out that it was wrong, haha).

Bruce, It won't be wrong. Warren and I don't have the heart to let you redo that clock without the correct faced and restored clock numbered for MK1. Lee

Be a part of the deal but ship separately

Lee,

Would Mike entertain the idea of giving me the same price if I ship separately?

Hi Robert and others. I will contact Mike the clock guy and will try to put together a deal like the hardtop glass. I don't see why you wouldn't be able to send a clock in my name for the reduced price.

But wait till I talk to Mike because I am going to try to reduce the price further given I am sending in 7 clocks and one for bruce and maybe a few for members from the Saturday meeting and a few others have contacted me. Hold tight and I will report back. Lee

Here is what Mike does to the clock: Ultrasonically clean and lubricate your clocks, then install my proprietary crystal controlled microprocessor to influence the original mechanism to keep accurate time. I have the correct red paint for the hands and will paint them while I have that clock apart.

Lee--I love your description of the innards, instead of saying he replaces them with new mechanisms you really put a twist on it. haha. And thanks for the paint job on the hands, I really appreciate that too. It will be nice to have a clock that is right more than 2 times a day.

Numbers

The threads that were on SAOCA listed from my still foggy brain cell,

31 31 01 MK1a and MK2

31 31 00 MK1 I believe, which I have and is a negative earth OEM part

30 30 00 which was a big topic of discussion as it was a positive earth Alpine clock and guys say they had never seen one in real life.

The article has been pulled from Alpine site , why? IDK

Any way it comes out I gotta have reading glasses to see micro numbers anyway. The reality could also be as was dealer installed w/e was laying about.

sure we will get .02 from our brain bust, I mean train trust:rolleyes:

PS Moving to stock 30 day redirect in GTD

I cant edit Warrens post but will post the numbers when we are sure. Right now there is a discussion about the 3030 00 and 3131 00 for the US Mk1. I need to find someone with the 3030 00 I have a question in to Graham in England and Norm Miller. One of these guys will know the right answer. So stay tuned for the Mk1part number. If you know with certainty (no my car came with a " answers please)please let me know the correct number. It is important for getting the Mk1 early guys the correct clock and 100 point restorations the ability to be 100% correct if they have a clock. Lee

We need to find a 3030 00 clock from an owner then confirm it says negative ground on the face top or back. We know the 3030 exists from the picture attached.

The winner of this contest will be acceptable clocks for a Mk1. If you bought a mk1 new drove it for a while and went to the dealer to get a clock you would have received a 3131 01. We all may need to settle with a 3131 01 since they are known and I currently have three untouched examples, one for my mk1a. It is a dealer installed item and we know correct for the Tiger. Judges cannot take off points because they don't know when it was installed when judging your car.

Thanks Lee,

With that price I will at a minimum do 2 clocks. I have a 3131/01 (For negative earth) and a couple 2194s. When Warren gets some numbers that will decide the 2nd, but I will do 2 regardless.:D

This related thread above was moved by Duke. When I move a thread I tried to read all the way. This one was titled only ammeter, I would call it an Ampmeter but I am still having trouble with the Kings English, as well as colonist English. I gave it a clock in title and its easier to find now in body sub forum :D If I can get to it will look for cached archive of SAOCA thread no longer on their active site.

The only questionable comment I have read is a Smiths clock working since new, that's a good one across all forums.

Dealer installed items were what they were I'd say.

Wow, what a great idea. As long as you're doing look-a-like clocks, could you have this one done up to be 'correct' for a Mk1A?

3131 01 clock

This ebay seller seams to think he has a 3131/01 clock.
3131/01 has red hands, vertical 3 and 9, different bezel, negative ground as shown in second picture.
