cosmic wheel center caps

COSMIC WHEEL CAPS

Many years ago before the internet, when they were unobtanium I used truck motor freeze plugs, painted them black added Sunbean Tiger decals from SS and JB Weld glued them in. Looked better than the originals!

There is a repop on ebay of the 15 inch versions for VW. Very unlikely the 13 inch would ever be reproduced because of the demand for our lug pattern.

I bought a set of 4 metal center caps about a year ago...when. I m at my office on Monday I'll look up where I got them from and post.

Also I discovered after buying the car that my lug nut spacing had been changed via adaptors....fyi for those considering Comics.

I am going to start this off "I think" the 4x108mm bolt pattern is not very easy to find. Since I have not fitted the wheels to my car and just sold my other wheels it will be interesting if they don't fit. The ones I have are the 4x108. I will report back next weekend when I remove my wheels and try to fit the cosmics. The car may be on blocks for a while. Lee

My Caps

I am afraid I do not have any info on a source for the center caps.

I have cosmic alloys on my Tiger and they came with center caps with the Tiger head etched into them. They were on the car when I bought it. I have attached a few photos. Perhaps somebody will recognize them and be able to add further info.

I want a cosmic cap. I was going to put some spinners on since I didn't have any caps but will just start off with a black cap with cosmic decals. Lee

That is the place I located in GB. The caps are really reasonable like $6 ea but the shipping is a killer. Lee

BTW, I recall back in the 70's being told that the name "cosmic" came from the price of the wheels. ;) Didn't think that also applied to the center caps or the shipping for same. Hope you find them.

Not original, but I'd think with some machine-shop adapters, Tiger spinners could be fitted and look nice. Been thinking about that for my Revolutions for a long time, they came with the plastic centercaps and I've never found a set of the period-correct metal ones (all the racers seem to chuck 'em).
