Hi Tiger friends,
my name is Markus Steininger President of SUNBEAM CLUB GERMANY and since 1985 I have Sunbeams. In the meantime 5 TIGER , 1 ALPINE, 1 HILLMAN HUNTER ESTATE, 1 TALBOT LOTUS. Now my problem - I have ordered at the CRAFT PERFORMANCE ENGINE Company in Arkadelphia an 347 Stroker and payed 6000 Bucks deposit. But this is 20 month´s ago and every mail the owner Lance have a new excuse why he didnt finish the engine. Now´s someone the company or better now the owner and can help me or have some information about this company. It would be great if somebody can help me because I´m far away. Best regards Markus.

Marcus - Sorry to hear about all your problems with Craft Performance Engines. Maybe one of our members who live in the southern states (Arkadelphia is in Arkansas, about halfway between Texarkana and Littlerock) might be able to help out. If so, please contact Marcus - he is a great guy and a real Tiger fanatic.

One thing that Marcus might also try is to go to Craft Performance Engines' Facebook account and leave some feedback about the huge delay in getting his engine shipped. That might motivate Craft Performance Engines to get their backside in gear and get the engine shipped out.

Good luck!
David

unfortunately, it appears there have been similar "de prioritizing" of overseas orders in the past. Generally, there is (was?) a fairly positive reputation for their work. This is good news. However, you will note that the owner Lance responds in the final comment with some negativity towards the French buyer. The basic comment is "if you want our good quality you must wait" and claims he should change order delivery lead times to "6-8 months" Your 20 months is far longer and completely unreasonable, unless there are special circumstances(?). He claims custom head builds, for example. Im aware of special intake manifold casting scheduling to require a few years of prep (investment, scheduling, usw...)

i had looked into acquiring a motor from them years ago as well.

i would suggest having someone stateside to give them a direct call first, prior to any internet post at all... regardless of your right to complain. IF this delay cannot be explained in the call, there are plenty of us willing to press further... including internet posts across multiple groups / platforms in support.

PS: i note the late 1970/early 1980 Audi shop sign oval. Im an audi guy too... :/)

let us know if you find a member local and/or having past business with Craft to chat with them, otherwise im willing to make a call.

Derek

Hi Derek,
I´m very happy that the guys of the CAT Forum help so fast. Yes I´m a AUDI guy too. I have a URQUATTRO which one I drove in the late 80th. Since 28 years it in my garage. And I drove rallys in this times. The AUDI sign was a present from Alfons Stock he was german rally champion with VW GOLF in 81. In the 90´ we won the bavarian champion 3 times together.
I have nobody in USA how can help me - so I wrote to the Forum. If you can make a call to Lance it would be so great. Maybe he can explain to you why it need such a long time to built an engine. I wrote to him - send the money back and let us stop the project, but he wrote he have ordered and paid all the parts so it is not able for him to give the money back. I ordered the engine because my friend in my garage bought also an 347 engine from him around 6 years ago and this business works perfect.

Thanks to all members for your support.
Best regards Markus

It's time to get your money back. 8 to 10 weeks is enough time to complete an order, or at least communicate regarding a time schedule. If you paid with a credit card you could dispute the charge, or ask your bank for help. It's also time to post a review. People really look and consider what reviewers are saying about a company. There are a lot of companies building SBF short blocks and complete engines, and I am sure they woild be glad to have your business. Keep us informed about what's happening. Cliff
