Did I find a Tiger??

I took the four flat tires off today and I'm getting tubes in them. I then can take it off the trailer. Again I am no expert but after reading Normans web site this car has all the right stuff. I took the front passenger wheel off. There are 2 holes filled with black grommets and the area where the generator goes is indented with what looks like a garden shovel. This car must have been sitting outside for the last 10 years at least. It would make no sense to "fake it" at least 10 years ago. Now lets try and figure out a ID number.

I will get it off the trailer, put it on jack stands and get the diff and trans numbers.

I looked at the door handles. It seems that there is just one screw that has to be removed. Is this correct? I see no numbers on the lock? Where should the numbers be?

Again, I want to thank everyone for your help.

Jeff

What I can see in your pics looks like genuine Tiger.

But, People have been churning out Algers for far longer than 10 years.

I have owned my Tiger for 14 years and making sure I got a real one was a real concern of mine then.

Locks

The door locks cylinders come apart pretty easy. The number is on the lock barell that the key slides into. You must remove the door handle from car back screws and keep on going till you get to two little screws that hold in the cylinder.
Many cars got a door or boot lid replaced so don't bother on door that has evidence of coming from different car. I'm guessing you have no keys but look closely as I have found stashed spares. The keys have tbe numbers on em. Ignition comes out and it has a small detent pin holding cylinder.

It is a big ask to go through the entire series of cars by the rear end and trans number. Not quite a needle in a haystack but time consuming so be patient.

Some cars get ID this way but I'd bet all you will get is an *

Even if you can read the rear end number the bookkeeping was bad and some cars have same numbers . When a vin tag goes missing a big worry is it will be on another car. Ask me offline how I know this sad sad song call it the * blues.

One door handle screw on the door edge and one stud nut inside the door at the other end of the handle. Don't forget the lock post clip on the latch rod.
For the record: I have seen and had my hands on three near perfect clones that would probably pass muster if you didn't know exactly where to poke a finger. amen

I started my Tiger hunt in 1979 and purchased mine in 1981. Even at that time there were well done clones around and making sure I got a real one was at the top of my list and then, of course, rust.

I find it quite interesting that the tags are missing. Norm will know the VIN from the numbers you find for him and he will know if those tags are on another car. Neat find, but a lot of work!
