Disappearing act steering adjusting wedge

I got a Le Carra wheel in the package deal.

If you can make sure that steering wheel is straight with wheels dead ahead before removing, if you have nice straight shot into work area it will be easier to have spokes centered where you want them when going straight with new wheel on.

Interesting. You gave the definition of "prise" but didn't include a def. for the more obscure "chinga". LOL Just ribbin' ya. Think we figured out what they both mean.

Let me know how well your Le Carra lines up. Didn't matter how straight my wheels lined up the steering wheel spoke couldn't be lined up straight.

Steering wheel

Can someone who has been there, please tell us how to correctly remove the factory wheel and install, say, a Moto-Lita without incurring undue wrath from Lord Rootes himself?

It has been a long time, but removing the steering wheel is not very hard. Once removed, to fit a Moto-Lita wheel, you will need a "Boss Kit" from Moto-Lita. The number is B30H and, again, my recollection is that it is not too hard to fit. The steering wheels provided by M-L attach to the boss with nine bolts, usually provided with the wheels. See http://www.moto-lita.co.uk/ for more info.

I believe the M-L wheels are 6 bolt, that's why they don't work on the "standard" adapter.

Moto Lita

Would be my second choice behind a stock wheel. Even though the non leather wrapped wheels are slick they are pretty.

The Le Carra laminated wheel is just not me the diameter is a little go cart esque. It is going to get a refinish in a more acceptable color. It's rather Maple and clashes with the Walnut burl dash. Then save for auto X or sell on to fund motor project.

Thru all the fun of these little cars the .02 cent nylon washer now .25 cents being installed or left off by P.O. makes or breaks the day.
Or as my cavalry friends have said "it's no big deal I can R n R that steer col. and shake it back into place in 15 minutes."

But those guys are Generals in Tiger land cause they also are party to the Name that tune like thread, I can R n R the engine in X hours...
Back in the day it was a V.W. show fun who was the fastest.
Part of me misses those clutch jobs in the parking lot on the way to Mammoth... Oh sorry being the recollecting geezer and straying o/t

I do have all the necessary Moto-Lita parts. The wheel is now mounted to the boss. Polished horn button will be pressed in once the wheel is attached to the column. BUT- Before I proceed I want to make sure I clearly understand how to remove the original wheel and replace it with the ML and avoid the problem that Warren encountered.

Thanks.

I cant screw a majority of the car's bolts I have on hand, on the shop table, one in each hand.. into each other without significant back-n-forth 'fiddle.'

And you were able to accomplish this remotely, with a twistable lead, over a couple feet... amazing!!!

You sir, should have bought a lottery ticket that very day. :p

Or maybe I'm just '(un)lucky' that way...

Good luck Warren (but like a couple of us said...after you pull the column you'll say 'why didn't I just do that sooner...?')

Derek

I have no problem with you calling BS... But steel wire is some stout stuff... I guess maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket... But fact remains... It worked... Only have to catch a couple turns... Thanks for the feedback!
