Does this look familiar?

I ran across this and was curious if it was an early Tiger piece or did someone add the name. I don't recall ever seeing one like this, in fact I looked at my 2 spares and neither has it. Thanks.....

WOW - 76 people with I assume great Tiger part knowledge looked at this part and no comments?

Can't tell

If the tag is on the radiator. I'm guessing most thing were sub contractors products.

I was trying to figure out if it was an original part or someone added the tag so they knew where to ship it. I am surprised the concourse people have not shared their knowledge yet.....:)

Used to

Use Dymo plastic labels on molds in casting which was the standard by Buddy bar . Can't tell if that is a cast part or a thin plate soldered on .

Put it on list of removed items after 1st radiator cleaning which probably happened soon after cars first hop up.

Who was using anti freeze in California back then? Not me

Dymo labels? I don't think so. I make mold inserts for a living.

Look at the picture.
I'd say it's a brass tag stamped with a numberall, then soldered in place.
SOP to me.

Ha ha

I used the labels in the high school foundry metal shop.
I was just saying it looks like and couldn't tell where it was from the pictures.

Here we have guys playing a riddle game. One takes a picture of his rare bit part that didn't get altered by radiator shop no.1or others, in his cars life. Bruce aka Cobrakidz posts the pictures and the other bends Norms ear gets a response then they both sit back and see who else can solve the riddle of a original little tag that fell off most everyone else's under sized cast iron clogged radiator 45 plus years ago.

Oh wait I just spoiled the riddleBng.

I guess that I am the offender here; I (and Bruce) were not trying to play games or anything like that. I (we) sincerely had no idea what this was or were it came from. So after over 100+ CAT members looked at it and had no comment I decided to go to an "higher source"

I emailed him and asked if he knew what it was and I was informed that it was "Unless I am mistaken, that's an original, rare factory piece. I've seen them before, but only occasionally."

I was surprised and will do my best to keep it on the radiator when I get it serviced. And on the other hand not total surprised as this car has been sitting since 1977 and 99% rust free. The only spot is by the battery; no surprise there.

This site most of of the time the members has been more than helpful and because of that my car is getting back in shape and will be on the road again.

Lastly, this was not a riddle to be spoiled, not a game to trick anyone only a search to see what was found on a car that's been sitting (generally) unmolested.

Cheers - Doug

When I get a chance I'll check a very original cat I used to own, what vin is the radiator on this one home to?

It's difficult to tell where that is located on the radiator from the original picture. Where is it? My car still has the original radiator so will go look if I can get a better idea where it's located.

He's got a early car. Does on top mean that it was unseen as the radiator shroud covered it?

What's Tim say about the radiator, he never took that car apart or noticed it?

"Tim is P.O."

Talked to Tim and he does not remember seeing it; I only saw it when it was out of the car and in sunlight.

Yeah, where on top? Is it under the shroud?

It's on top of the actual frame that wraps around the radiator; in the 3 photos it show the center, right and left.

It is located UNCER the shroud when in the car.

Cheers
