Ebay Tiger in CN

Interesting Find

That spare front clip appears to be a MK II nose. Notice the LH fender well perch only found on the last of them . . . . .might just take another ride for a look see.

VIN Plate

Yes, clip is shown in pic #23 and looks like it has a VIN plate.

The car is in a sorry state... Very big project. Quitevan early mkia too, cross body car with round trunk.

Mkii front in interesting, does look to have the vin... Wonder where the other 2/3 of it went?

Not so fast, my friends. That second front clip is likely part of an Alger. Notice the washer bag hanger on the left fender apron and the Alpine throttle pivot on the cowl. Looks to me to have been a Commodore Blue car, and I think the VIN is gone.

Scarlet A

and I agree if you copy the pic and enlarge you can also see other details, as well as the vin tag looks rather rectangular :)

Oh plus, I was told less than 25 were or are Commodore blue, not a riddle I just don't recall what he said but I think it was 25 Tiger were made in that color. In any event probably a boat load of Alpines were color 106.

Come to think of it those stick welds do also look like some of mine in High School metal shop, minus the burn thrus :)

So is the consensus that the clip is from an Alpine? It looks to be a MKII to me.

Can someone clear this question up for me? Are the frame rails different between the Series V Alpines and the Tigers? I know there are the exhaust pass thru areas and the front cross member mounting, but can they be swapped? I have a damaged Tiger and a front clip from an Alpine along with a Tiger frame rail. I can't really see a difference. Educate me!

The front frame rails were "modified" being the polite words at Jensen. They "adjusted" them for clearance when you see them compared to a clean alpibe set you'll think it was badly repaired accident damage. Jensen also modified the front apron around the radiator, the radiator mounts, there are early and late detail, later cars is a cleaner dedicated mounting brackets. Of course the generator mod in the wheel well and the front scuttle brace hats.

Worry

I wouldn't worry about denting a Alpine part up to match the scabby Rootes hallmarks. Seen more than one TACed car without a generator indentation. The best practice is to have it TACed before repairs begin.

The auction has been pulled more than one guy has commented that the clip is a cobbled mess and I believe guys that tell me it's not this collwrecktions first go round.

Gone Gone Project

Somebody trying to corner the market on rusty cobble ?

I left several messages (email and phone) but we never connected. It looks like he has let his other auctions run, so maybe something came up. I was interested in the clip, but only if it was a legit Tiger. Surely there is somebody up in that area that has looked at these parts?

Both of my Tigers have been blessed by Doug Jennings as the real deal. I am in WI, so if anybody is coming to the area and can TAC them, please feel free to let me know. Norm has been sent all of the information as well and he hasn't indicated bad cheese. SO much to do, so little time.
