Auto cross/Driving School in the very strange landscape of the former MCAS El Toro. Likely both the first and last hosted by CAT here. And what a shame is the lack of progress on the Irvine Great Park! Demo is scheduled on the two north runways we used. 34 Right and 34 Left.

What a great time we had! The very long course was soon ready for the 25+ entrants. Tigers? of course plus a Subaru, 2 very fast Datsuns, a few Morgans 1 Pantera and CAT Member LarDog drove his new Corvette down from Bakersfield.

Photos below.

I love running at El Toro, one of the very best sites in the country. Course length is pretty much limited by imagination and "reasonable" course walk distance.

The writing has been on the wall (losing the site) for years, the recession gave a few years respite, delaying the development of the real estate, but I believe 2015 is already in question? :(

Has CAT ever run an event at Cal Speedway?

Not that I can recall. Back when I was chasing Autocross sites I spoke to them but they wanted 3 or 4 times what we could pay. So we did a number of Autocrosses at Willow Springs before we hooked up with LBCC.

This year, with Long Beach drying up, CAT President Mike Michels worked a great deal to use El Toro. I have no idea what, if anything, that CAT will come up with for next year.

Sorry I couldn't make it (due to my current couch pota"toe" status) but Claudia managed to attend.
