Kinda makes you wish you were 1.67" tall, doesn't it! :D The Incredible Shrinking Enthusiast

As I mentioned in another post, I'm passing on these as I already have two 1/43rd Tigers but after ten months, the Intermeccanica Italia I ordered showed up about a week ago, the detail is amazing! You're going to love that car; I wonder if, due to the limited # made, in a few years they'll be BON-priced?

Still waiting

Ordered mine 6+ months ago, called once and spoke to someone who said they would get back to me, then called recently and left voice message. Really lame way to run a business--I think I would just prefer to get my money back and not reward the unprofessionals. Maybe they will see this note and get their butts in gear and communicate.

On the "boat" now

The following was sent 8/22 by James Cowen Automodello.

Hello Tiger Team,

I received the test shipment from the factory earlier this week, and, the hardtops arrived undamaged by FedEx with the new inside-the-box protection.

The Tigers will be departing on the next boat which leaves late next week and looks to arrive here in Buffalo Grove 25 business days later. To keep your appetites on high, I have attached the Sunbeam Tiger brochure. Feel free to distribute it to your Tiger friends and relatives. Orders can be placed through Diecasm, www.diecasm.com.

Of the 3 editions, the Homage Edition is almost sold-out. This edition is limited to just 24 units.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for all your help,

Jim

An e-mail I had prior to this with fuller explaination was lost in a computer crash:eek:

IIRC The first samples sent from China had a low survival rate. Damage due to the to be expected rough handling. It took months to redesign packaging to allow for delivery by catapult? Apparently a thumbs up on the new packaging and they are still weeks away.

Rick:rolleyes:

Out of interest the cars are all MKI's with LAt 70 wheels by the looks... why dont they have the SUNBEAM lettering on the front?

i wonder if they will do a rally tiger edition.. not to much invloved to make it.. a HSC55 would be awesome.. but would require many mods to the body mould/casting

Well, glad to hear you got it. I was kind of skeptical after seeing page after page of pre-orders on their site. Those guys must be floating in dough with all of them.

Looks nice.:D

Looks like a lot of front and rear bumper though. So how long? 2-1/2" or so?

They do have SUNBEAM lettering on the front.

They have some vids on Youtube.

(Nice music in this one. Wonder what it is?)

Looks good with some nice detailing.

It seems that they do racing versions...

I see the sunbeam on the special edition black tiger, it on the balck car.. but not on the normal green one.

I have seen their racing editions.. but as i said.. aprt from the rally tigers they would have to do quite a few mods to the body to make the period US cars.. would love to see it though!

Bummer wait until she see's how small it is !!!!! When this sort of thing happens to me I tell the wife to just go shopping and get those shoes or
fur coat she's been wanting and then take her out for a nice evening out
so she doesn't have to cook. Seems to work just fine.........

How small is it, better not be that small. Her B-Day is next week, will make it up to her.

Sunbeam Tiger overall length 156"

1/43 x 156 = 3.63"

$234.95 / 3.63 = $64.72/inch !

If you could buy a real Tiger for $64.72/inch it would only cost $11k so just tell her it's a much better deal buying the model... lol :D

Other pluses for model.

Won't take time away from doing other necessary projects.

Won't be a money pit. No parts to buy, no insurance, no gasoline, etc.

Quieter, safer, won't take up any space in the garage or much anywhere else.

On a quasi-related note, I recall perhaps a decade or so back, there were briefly on the market toy cars that were truly small, maybe 3/4" long or less, and one of the cars offered was a Tiger. I think it would be interesting, if I could lay my hands on a couple of those, to have them made into novelty earrings for my wife. Nowhere the detail of the Automodello cars, however...

They were the micro machiene cars by galob (sp?) if you search on ebay theydid them in several colours.. i bought some a few years back from the USA. They are listed often. They are tiger MKIA's

Co-worker just came in and tells me that Automodello released a 1/43rd scale Tiger. Uh... thanks.

Well, so they are, several listed right now. I wonder how one would "gilt" them. Just what I need, another project.

1st search on "micro Machines Tiger" resulted in Tigers all right... tanks. :p

When you get your model please post some close up photos as I would like to see how they compare to the K+R models that Wally Swift used to sell. Those were also some high quality models. Thanks! Eric

I noticed on all the Griffiths vids that the license plate and/or plate lettering looked to be crooked.
