Hi guys,
I thought I posted this last night but I guess not? Please let me know if I posted in the wrong section.
Put in a bunch of hours compounding and waxing, then pulled the wheels and polished them, then cleaned up under the hood and fixed various little things.
Brought it to a local cruise that I often attend, I was surprised at all the attention it got! I guess I had figured that most muscle car types wouldn't really notice it or know what it was, tons of questions and positive comments.

Cheers,

Paul

Wow - Great Lookin' Car

Paul,

All your hard work sure paid off - what a beautiful car! Looks like a new paint job. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Sharp looking car. Yeah, I think I saw the pics posted yesterday in another thread but no problem, nice enough to enjoy looking at again.

Looks Gorgeous Paul!
Just got back from the all British car show at Brittania Beach Ottawa.
Lots of Healeys, jags, Triumphs, lotuses...and one Alpine V8(clone of Ken Miles prototype 302-auto engine not set back) but no other Tigers :(

Car is indeed great looking! I note that on the RHS of the boot (trunk) the panel is beginning to lift... the inner frame of the panel gets a tweak and the pressure means they start to bowe. It might be worth moving the trunk springs back one notch and releasing the tension to prevent it getting worse. And avoid using the boot rack.

Thanks everyone, very nice of you.
Sorry I didn't know about the Brit show In Ottawa Bill, I would have made the drive for sure!
Instead I headed out about 60 miles on the back roads to a country car show in Malone NY, pretty drive and a good long shakedown run for the car.
All went well, some issues with the accuracy of some of the gauges, and a rattle in the front suspension/steering, more things to work on...

As you can see from the pic below, there was tremendous interest in the Tiger at the show! :D

Also stopped for a photo op on the way home, very nice drive.

Thanks for pointing that out Michael, I hadn't noticed, I think it's exacerbated by the weight of the rack when the trunk is open. I personally don't like the rack, but it was on the car when I bought it...
Do people ever remove the rack and run with just the bolts and mounting pads in place?

Cheers,

Paul

Pual what a great photo print it large and hang it in the living room! Its callender material.

On the rocks I have seen people use chrome teardrop plugs to hide the holes... Its an OK solution. Better than rubber plugs or bolt heads

outing

don't worry about the luggage rack. they come in handy just as it did yesterday for us. we were at the vintage races / british show at Pittsburgh .the case with my 10 X 12 EZ up was strapped on the rack along with two large folding camp chairs which fold up and fit in their bags. the ice chest, picnic basket, etc were in the trunk.I have used racks for 40 years and have never had a problem with them bending the trunk unless you try to carry something really heavy. they work like a reinforcement and give strength to the trunk. the rack on my green car has rubber spacers between the outer skin and the inner frame where the holes are drilled. it doesn't even dimple in the area where the bolts go thru the trunk. the rack gives the car the proper british look. it's also a big help if you travel with a wife like mine. i never know what she might buy.

outing

we will be at a large british show in Dayton on august 2. just for the heck of it i think i'll try to count the number of cars with racks.

Mikey doesn't miss much!

outing

i remember when a person talked about so many things wrong with a car that was the center of attention at invasions and uniteds that the owners pulled the auction and wouldn't sell it even though one person just told them to name their price. they were scared of legal problems that could occur. when you first see photos of a car, what's wrong with saying it's a nice car without telling the problems you see?

Thanks, but I took no offense at all, my car is far from perfect, much to fix and tweak, any input is appreciated...
I've been playing with old cars for many years, I'm always anxious to learn from those who have come before me, hopefully then in due time I can help the next guy.

Cheers,

Paul

Paul, I didn't think you would take offence, as I stated great car with some sweet period accessories. My comment was a heads up to prevent an issue getting worse. You will learn in quick time on the forum that some ppl will just trill and try their " cage rattling" as they put it... Just ignore them... Most do

Rack delete

Great looking Tiger! Sounds like you might end up keeping the rack, but when I read about using the chrome "bullets" to plug the holes, I did that with a hole on my Corvette where back in the 70's a CB antenna had been mounted  and it looks fine. But it's only one hole though vs 4... I found a rubber O ring that fit just right for the inside diameter to be sure water stayed out. Btw, my Vette has the luggage (actually T-top) rack on it that a lot of people say I should just remove, but like 65beam said, it's been very handy for stuff I can't fit behind the seats because it's too long or ect, and my girlfriend seems to always find something to buy when we hit yard sales on the way home from shows and cruises... Lol. I don't think I'd like it without the rack? Oh, and you can see the bullet between the window and the rack, dead center.

P.S., this thing is far from stock under the hood... ;)

I removed a friend's rack on his Alpine--we found the little plastic Christmas tree looking plugs to fill the holes---with a dark color they hardly show.
