With all the beautiful wheels he has designed, I was not impressed with the ones he made for the Tiger. The dash was not as nice as a stock Tiger. Looks like he may have installed a fuel cell withe the way he made the trunk platform level, and the pile of parts in the end shot had two stock fuel tanks.

What a boring air cleaner! I thought for sure we'd see the expert with a fresh shave.:) But in all fairness what a fresh T shirt and nice trim and you still look skinny on TV
 
Overhaulin'

We just need to keep in mind - this is all theater...Nice to see Dan Walters show up - guessing he was the one that pointed out the aluminum valve covers were on backwards (initially).

I thought the premise was a little lame with no suspense - they should have had some gangstas breaking into the chain link fence and shown the teacher in deep mourning after his car was stolen only to find out he had been punk'd.

Just remember - any publicity related to our cars is a good thing - it is amazing the level of interest I have perceived here in the car's 50th year...
 
I was quite interested in the tool they used to remove spot welds! :confused:

I am not a fan of a few of Chip's staples.

1) He always bolts on a scoop rather than blend it in. He did the same on a 65-66 Mustang a while back. The Shelby hood was one piece and Chip replicates it as bolt on.

2) Painting the engine an odd color that makes no sense. Other than the red calipers, there was no other red on the car. So why a red engine? I could see it if there was a red accent stripe in the paint.

Other comments:

- The air cleaner was boring.
- I liked the bumpers and was considering do that to my car, but now Chip stole my idea.
- Not a fan of the dash treatment.
- Dale's front end got no naming mention or explanation (plus the female host called it a rear suspension)......so he must have charged full price. I bet free one would have yielded a 30 sec explanation and plug for Dale.
- He left off the Rootes badges on the rear qtrs. Bad move IMHO.
- Not a fan of the side stripes and shortened front molding strip. The stripes are basically like a MkII and nothing new, but then he combined them with the stock molding. Just too much for me.
- I liked the seats.
- The exhaust was nice.

The black Tiger was SWEET! I always loved black on tan combo. Since my car has black paint code, I could get away with that because there was no record of interior colors, right?

It's not very often that the Mrs. and I watch much TV together we both laughed at the cut off heads shots of the girls with their mid sections flashed on the screen like subliminal advertising behind the work being done.

All car guys are just cheap iron and all women are magnets. "rough translation"

Was "Sailors" are cheap iron.

If you notice, Foose hates red cars, but often paints the engines red.
 
I have to say this is a very frustrating thread. No link, no pics. I guess it was on TV. Glad so many enjoyed WTF ever it was.

First thoughts... don't like the red engine... OR the wheels....

Girls are 'hot' but...do they really need to be there :confused:

Probably the most 'radical' thing they did ( albeit a bolt-on ) was to install Dale's front end and spent about 3 seconds on that lol

One of the women called it the rear suspension when they first displayed it. The male host didn't correct her either.

I had to turn it off when they threw the wood dash with all of the gauges into the trash barrel.
 
Overall Chip and the Overhaulin team created a beautiful Tiger. The owner now has a One 0ff Foose machine which ought to offset the deviations from stock market values. I agree the dash and a few of the other details, ie scoop, would not be my choice but I can assume that budget and time are an influence in TV Land also. I just mapped out my front valance for the same Big Mouth surgery and after seeing Chips effort I am committed (although I will form a horizontal connection to funnel the airflow to my over sized rad).

All I can say is that fellow is one lucky shop teacher and like allot of you guys I'm some what envious!!

And Dan Walters you're looking fit and trim! Thanks for your Torque Arm build. Mines patiently waiting for me to install it!!

They did pull it back out to at least trace it for a new one.
It was said may be they would re do in leather not sure what happened.
More then I like but a very nice modified Tiger Kbeck
 
I don't get it

So the owner is a auto shop teacher and has had the car for 32 years and has done absolutely nothing to it for 32 years (other than rebuilding the engine). Does not make sense.

Throwing the dash with all the gauges in the trash was based on "years of experience". Hello Doesn't seeing the 50 year old Jaeger gauges ring a bell. Like in this stuff could be valuable.
