Front Brake Lines Redo

So mid stream fitting the headers it became clear that the position of the brake lines were way to close to the headers. Not sure the front end designer thought about this but the lines the way they were are a no-go.

Took out the old lines and added a new bracket that will hold the Tee fitting from the master to the front brake. The good thing is that it's also clear of the steering u-joint and can get at it. The bracket mounting took way too long because I was too lazy to pull the corded angle drill out and suffered with tools that 'sorta' worked. Finally got the bracket in and the next day made up the first of three lines.

Bent a prototype with TIG rod to get the general shape and away I went. Flared with 37 degree for AN lines. Waiting for the odd Tee fitting that has the bulkhead part on one of the other sides than a conventional Tee to get the wheel lines done.

A pain to redo with all the stuff in the car.

Too close for comfort

Not as bad but still bad, no reason to boil brake fluid unless from stopping...

Found this simple -3 AN bulkhead fitting bracket that will be used to get the line from the master to the front end

Took all of these tools to do it, note would have been a quick job if I just pulled a right angle
drill that had to power to drill the metal in one shot. What a pain to get just the size needed for
the 2 Rivnuts.

Both in, lower one had some 'issues' while drilling as the drill slipped down. Had to start
over. Again, use the right tools.

In and ready to get plumbing.

First line made up.

Used this simple tool to get the coiled up stainless line straight. It's easier to get it bent if
starting straight

A couple of passes with the tool and good enough

Using the proper flaring tool, did up one side of the line to anchor it to the fitting. Second side will be done AFTER all bends and fitted. And yes forgot to slip on
the spring-y line guard before putting on the second fitting, so didn't use it here.

After using the TIG rod for a rough shape, got it bent and sized. Blue tape keeps the fittings
from annoyingly sliding around.

Installed, seems to fit OK, some 'hand' bends will tweak it to a good fit.

Tight work space, but good to go. Need the proper Tee fitting to get going on the wheel
side lines.

Gave the line a quick wrap with the nylon plastic abrasion wrap as I forgot the stainless spring that I was going to slip over and no way I'm chopping a fitting to
redo ;)
