Generator Ground Wire

I'm trying to chase down a charging issue. Does anyone know where the other end of the black ground wire connected to the ground terminal of the generator is? It goes into the harness right near where another pair of black ground wires come out and are bolted to the ballast resister bolt. Surely it doesn't come right back out as one those black pairs. I'm hoping it pops back out over near the regulator. And it's not on the wiring diagram.
