Glass for Hardtop from Lee

Bob, Warren and I have decided to convert our hardtops to glass (rear and side). A company in Glendale CA bends the glass to properly fit the hardtop and makes the side glass. Anyone can buy the glass for 380 a set but Lee the owner (not me) is discounting the glass to 320 a set.

He makes the window in sets of two so ideal is four sets. Long story to see if one other person may be interested in the conversion for the discounted price. The hardest decision is he can provide clear or tint in any color the entire group chooses.

Since I bought an already media blasted disassembled hardtop and I have already owned a hardtop with a plastic window it is an easy decision for me. First to PM me gets the deal no shipping.

I will pick up the glass or you can pick it up. Not sure where Bob lives but Redondo Beach, Newport Beach can be other pickup points. If we get three more interested I will see if he will reduce the price to 300 a set. There is not much room in the pricing to beat the deal offered. Lee

Weight

We do not have a exact number on weight but the glass is bowed and is said to be a direct replacement. When we get em we will report but it will be a bathroom scale guesstimate. Seems the top is rather light and adding the glass will not make it too heavy as most take 2 persons to install or remove.
I am more concerned that the wimpy rubber mounting gasket will hold the weight rather than me.

Over all when I first pick up a hard top I was amazed how light they were and was thinking they were plastic from the factory only cause it was cheaper.

Having dealt with other convertible tops the upgrade if available to glass is a no brainer.

The glass will be laminated and tinted if desired

At 216.00 plus tax for plastic windows from Sunbeam Spec. for windows you can not wash or dry without making swirl marks. For about 100 bucks more I am going for it.

I am interested in seeing the fit and finish with them, also how well the rubber holds it in. If they turn out nicely I would like to be in the 2nd order group.

hardtop glass

I too am interested with the same concerns on fit. My vote is for tinted.

A friend of mine has the glass in his hardtop. The fit is perfect and it looks GREAT!

I have the 4th person. Will order next week and report back. The guy bends custom glass for very upscale cars so I expect it to be really good. Thanks for all your interest. Lee

How long does the process take? Do you want to get a tentative group 2 together? I'm in.

That is the same company, 300 for the rear and 40 ea for the side glass. 380 plus shipping. We have agreed to 320 for now five people, Bob, Robert, Bruce, Warren and Lee. Bob and Bruce clear and the rest tinted in some grey/smoked color. I will be ordering tomorrow, Thursday with a week to two turn around. I will pick up the glass and distribute either to Warren in Redondo Beach, me in Newport Beach or take Roberts set to my house in Moreno Valley. Lee

Does he normally ship? If so maybe he has the correct boxes etc..... for my glass to come up north. Let me know, might be easier to have him ship vs having Warren run around town trying to get them out. Trust me, I know what a pain it is....;)
