Hardtop 1/4 -Vent Window Chrome Button Rubber

Is there a source for the rubber that goes between the chrome Butten and vent pixy on the hard top. Either size. All so, I am sell some brass buttons 1" size on E-Bay. And finally ,Are the small buttons were for the M1s and the big 1" buttons were for the M1As. ?

Small buttons is early big later cars. If selling on eBay please list you're user name there and include a CAT sticker picture. It's not more trouble to cut out eBay and provide discounts to club members.

Steve a member in Melbourne australia used to make the buttons and sell them with the molded rubbers for both sizes.

He may have some still available. A couple years back i helped stateside guys get them.. He doesnt use the internet.

Do you want me to touch base with him for you?

I just need the molded rubber gasket. About 6 sets. Could you ask the member in Australia if they have any to sell.

Ok guys.. Can we put some numbers nect to this so i know how many to ask about.

As a side note im going to post the price here on principle.

A couple of years back i helped some people get some stuff from bob which involved a bunch of emails from me back and forth to people s bunch of calls to bob to arrange the parts and sending. I did this to help fellow sunbeamers at no cost. I arranged for them to be sent to 1 location stateside and distributed.

I was rather offended when there was a handling and time fee added that end to fwd them on to people... I did all the hard yards to make it happen in good will... To have someone else charge for their time at the other end didnt sit well with me...

So if anyone plans to add a margin on this.... Don't.. Im.doing this to help people out... And trust me its more effort my end as im doing it remote too.
 
That's sad to hear that somebody tried to add a handling fee onto a product. I know I sent you a separate email as I didn't think there'd be much interest. Most Tiger guys I know would just about rather glue a couple pieces of rubber sheet together and then trim them down or smash them with a leather punch and then glue them together with bicycle solvent welding rubber cement. When I find someone who will make little parts like those heater control plastic knobs I just set up Bill Graff of CAT parts with em.
 
Hi Michael, if he has enough I'd go for 4 sets of the larger ones (8 pieces).

Tell him my name is Bob also, we Bob's always help each other out when possible.
 
OK. Seems we have some numbers...

Bob's a nice guy and im sure would be happy to do a run of them. He actually made the buttons in both small and large too and sold them as sets. Iirc he offered to supply Rick in about 2008 but rick didnt want them at the time.

As a side note a pick of "bobs buttons" .. The rubber looks grey in the photo but that's just the protective coating

Awesome , I suspect the grey is the mold release magic stuff.
I'm down for one set of each. No rush on my part but I understand a couple of guys are in the final build stages.

For numbers:

Steve A - large rubbers x 6 pairs (12 Windows)
Bob - large rubbers x 4 pairs (8 windows)
Warren - large x 1 small x 1 (4 windows)

Randy - large / small how many?

If anyone else wants add name and number and style to the thread.

It appears Steve A has made large buttons.
If someone wanted the small chrome ones Bob may have those available still.

As an update Bob was contacted so I'll have the answer soon i guess and will post the costs here.. This was the list.. Randy i had to guess your order as it was unclear in your last post amd i didnt get clarification:

Steve A - large rubbers x 6 pairs (12 Windows)
Small rubbers x 1 pair ( 2 windows)
Bob - large rubbers x 4 pairs (8 windows)

RTR - 1 set of small rubbers and buttons ( 2 windows)

A quick update.. Bob was admited to hospital late last week. Im told he will be out early next week, so will gently touch base with him re the rubbers and buttons...

Not that i want to say this.. If Bob has them on hand or will make some more and if you want them or think you may need them in the future might be a good time to stock up... Bob is in his 80s now ..
