I was informed that the heater valve for a stock MG"C" would work in my '66 Tiger -- it won't. However we found that the heater valve for a 1965 Mustang works OK.:)

Strange

Got pix? Sounds like somthin's not what it should be . . . . .

Honda Valve

The Tigers utd posting suggests a Honda Valve. It is not pretty but functional.
There is also a sub section on a bypass and relocation to inside the heater core air box. Try to dig it out and get you a pic if you want. I had it on my car and just could not stand looking at it. When I saw Eric post a proper valve the clamp and the little bolts on Epay I lost my mind and bought it. In the back of the Sunbeam manual the vin number for the later "improved" valve starts in the later MK1A and into the MK2 . If anything fits the MK2 be prepared to pay more.

It is really fun seeing the cars and how each PO has Rube Goldberg adapted a gate valve, ball valve, or whatever valve they had. Most having to raise the hood to turn on or off the heater.

There are 2 types of valve used on an MGC.. only 1 works with the Alpine SV/Tiger IA/II...

It's the later style valve that works for Sunbeams

The BMC/MOWOG part number for this valve is BHA4918. so if you are speaking to MOSS or another MG supplier thats what you want.

You might want to recheck that. 65 Mustangs do not use a heater water control valve.

Ditto

Ditto! Yup, I have owned the ancient fastback for many decades, and there ain't no water valve to be found, except maybe the old guy who can't seem to pass an outhouse these days . . . . . .

Honda Valve

Here is a pic of the Honda Heater to the right. I picked it as a temp as it was in the Tigers utd. to remove and replace inside the heater core compt. You can see where I drilled holes in the cable affixing studs. I could not get it to work with the cable in the stock location and configuration. I have to admit to being too lazy to do the changes to the cable routing and also the "There I fixed it" ball valve or other contraption hardware store fix.
