Here is another but a MK2

Requirements galore!

Used to live in that neck of the woods, Maryland and Virginia both extremely anal on car enthusiasts.Got a ticket on a Honda back in 1970, reg. had been on the books a few weeks.lol Eases up on the cars when 25 yrs old(hence no sticker). While looking at the pics,
I figured the mechanic stretched the dual exhaust out the rear to meet some unusual county/state req. Would never go back except in a Prius. but thats just me

battery hold down?

 Does anybody know if 1967 MK II Tigers had welded in battery hold down brackets? (like the rest of the Tigers) The car shown dose not appear to have them.

Looks Like A Pretty Nice Tiger

The car looked to be in fairly good shape, from what I could see in the photos. The seller has been reading too much Wikipedia, though. This is a fairly low Mk II number - B382100166 (or is the last digit an 8?). This would make it the 69th (or 71st) Mk II (out of 536), based on VIN number. If someone gets this for $50,000, they should consider themselves very, very lucky. But it looks like it was painted Carnival Red, but the color code is 106. I don't have my reference material available, so am not sure what color that is.

Only one Pentastar, I have noticed a lot of Tigers are missing those. When did they start putting them on?

Sorry, more newbie questions...bonnet release

Is this a correct location?

(I should be searching, but asking is more fun)

Pentastars were applied late in the Mk1a production.

There have been other discussions in the forum on this topic with greater detail.

One pentastar is correct.

Ford Red or Chevy Orange?

Can't be many MK IIs running around with 'Old Ford Red' engines.

J.D.

Made you look!

I noticed the strange color on the intake manifold, but also noticed the water pump and timing housing were blue. At first, the intake manifold looked more orange on my laptop monitor, and I was wondering who would paint a Ford engine Chevy orange. The original intake on my Mk II was blue.

Man, that car could be soooo much sweeter with very few $$/hours !! ... most of the missing bits aren't even made out of unobtanium

Paul could redo that MK1 tach face, too

More MK2 questions.

Didn't MK2's come with clocks? Where's the spare tire? What about the top, were some MK2's, roadsters, or did they all come with hardtops? What's with the leather around the shifter, that's not stock, is it? What do you think is the Reserve Price? What do you think it's worth?

Clocks and ammeters were options on mkii as with all other sunbeams. There was no leather shift boots just stock ford rubber boot at base. As for bonnet release that should be under the dash.

On the dash topic... I have been looking at period road test pics of mkiis and its hard to see the choke blanking plates. I have suspected for a little while that mkii didn't have them... By SV alpine the GT cars used a wood veneer over a Bakelite dash and had the glovebox surround. The tiger still had a solid wood dash so would no longer be a need to route the choke hole as those were not being used on alpines. Would love to see a confirmed untouched late mkii with original dash

My big pet-peeve are those nasty cubby box staples. Tell me those things weren't there on a brand new car. They did come new that way huh?

67 Tiger,
I think the reserve will be around 100-125.000 as they are asking 125.000.

Your car was restored I want pics of an unrestored car without mods... Its a theory the road test pics are not great so a little inconclusive

Some More Answers

Michael answered your question about the clocks and the leather shift gaiter. I am not sure anyone answered a few of your other questions. MkIIs carried their spare tire in the trunk, lying flat. It was held down with straps. As far as hardtops are concerned, not all MkIIs came with them. Just like the Mk1As, the hardtop was an option.
