How Much Demand Would There Be For Reproduction Tri-Y Header Motor Mount Hangers?

Right now this is just an informal poll to see how many might be willing to purchase one, no commitments needed. I can't give a firm price at this point because it depends on the number produced but I'm hoping to do be able to offer them for $500 or less. I'm hoping to be as close to the original LAT version as possible and just to be clear, this would be for the hanger only.
Thoughts?

I have a set of the Tri-Ys but never put them on any of my Tigers after talking to Terry Taylor about his vast experiences running them for over 50 years. The engine hanger is just one of the problems. Even Doanne's hanger needed additional grinding. From what I remember from Terry, they were never a "bolt-in" item but needed a lot of fitting and additional grinding in other places as well. Terry eventually found a replacement for the required gaskets (Mercedes?) which tended to blow out. All tha bother scared me away. Maybe one of these days???
Regardless, I'd probably buy a hanger just to complete the set which sits quietly on a shelf, somewhere in the collection of parts.

Since they have been reproduced already and I think they were like $400 why would you need to reinvent the wheel.
It sure looks like Dan W. AKA was able to do a really nice job on Doug C's car.
As I understand it at least two MK2 owners are working on putting together a set on their cars. It turns out I wasn't willing to have the car experience more downtime. A forum search would reveal their pretty decent handful of guys who are wanting to put them on their cars, or were.

Was it Grant Wong maybe 10 years ago who had repro'ed the TriY specific hanger and the headers.... He used to sell them on ebay... I think i have his old email address somewhere.. Maybe he was in canada?

I've been looking for a reproduction version and as far as I know, nobody is selling any right now. They're typically done in limited runs and all may have been sold. We know what kind of price an original can bring IF someone is willing to sell one. That's why I'm asking.

Yes.. But someone that has the molds to cast them seems like the best starting point.

Ill see if i can find Grants details

Thanks, It would make things easier if the tooling is available. Redoing it is not a big deal for me, it's simply a wood pattern and a follow block. I have experience with things like this and know a foundry that will cast them.
Check this out, no relation to me.

I bought a set of LAT-27's (mounts and hangers) 30+ years ago from. I think the name was, Emhart Manufacturing. Never installed them.

Thanks, I also found that and it was linked here in 2015. It was mentioned that whoever was going to produce them had acquired the tooling from Grant Wong. I haven't found any subsequent updates which is why I am considering it myself.

I got swayed out of adding the tri-Ys to a MK2 by the seller John.

Bailey is in the roster . As I heard friends don't let friends pay retail :)
Having one scanned and CNC milled then sandblasted to look real would be nice.
I would say there's probably a market for Alger types for aluminum regular standard motor mounts as well. Plus I've heard the racing type saying I want to shave some pounds off.

I have had a set on my car for almost 10 years now, the flange side of the faces needed to be milled. Very nice castings as there was no flashing cleanup inside or out needed, I am very happy with them. Is someone making the down tubes in stainless?

Reading this made me curious so I went looking for possible sources for gaskets. I found that old air cooled VW exhaust flanges are a very close match. The diameter of the pipe and the dimension between bolt hole centers both work. They're easy to find so I ordered some gaskets and some bare flanges to possibly use to get a better seal.

I'm not sure about that. The dimensions seem to be consistent on most VWs from what I've seen.. The diameter of the Tiger exhaust outlet is 1.625" which is very close to 40mm and the dimension between bolt holes is 2.6" which is 66mm.

Isn't it the same thing, where the exhaust system bolts to the head?

Update, I got the parts today and they're not a great match. The search continues.

Not being able to locate either an original or a reproduction, I did make a foundry pattern and had a limited number cast in ductile iron. To save on tooling, I had them cast from a loose pattern so the texture is a bit rougher than if I had made a more involved, production like pattern.
I did the finish machining and am very happy with the accuracy of the critical dimensions. Ductile iron is the same as was used for the stock Tiger hangers and is very durable. Unlike standard cast iron, it is not brittle. It bends rather than breaks. I had to test to be sure so an early sample survived a good beating with a 10 pound sledge as well as a drop test onto concrete. It passed with no damage.
Being aware of the fact that additional grinding may be required, I made the flange where the down pipe passes a little thicker to allow for grinding and adjustment but still allow the motor mount nut and washer to fit..
This reproduction run was done completely in the USA.

I am selling them directly here for $400 plus $15 Priority Mail shipping within the U.S.
I am willing to ship overseas. Please contact me if interested.
