I searched online and all I can find is a reference that arctic white (92) cars should have red interior. However I have an arctic white car that has a dark blue almost blackish interior. My uncle the previous owner says it was always dark blue from the time he purchased it from the the dealer.

Thoughts? Just trying to locate all the correct bits and pieces for my resto.

Just for reference here is a picture of orginal seat

Nothing Odd Here

Looks like the normal MK 1A black vinyl pattern from here. The base dye has probably started to return to mother nature by now . . . . . .the Rootes Guru of record keeping may have other input on this.

Tell me about it.... uncle had the car painted while he was attending Penn State to match the university colors.

Now the question who makes the best, IE: closest repro interior pieces?

Interior Fitments & Quality

Interior fittings seem to be a weak area here in the Nor'east as the guys will either hammer it out perfectly, OR, it appears as if the drunken uncle slapped it in sideways. As to the parts themselves, the better stuff I've worked with came from Martha. It all still requires a patience and skill level.

Wow; if he had attended West Point would the car now be camo?

My car (from the factory Forest Green/Black, I found out later) was Arctic White w/red when I got it and was hooked on white/red when I re-did it... even if non-Rootes colors that I eventually chose. IMHO opinion I think white outside would go nicely with lots of interior colors -- black is not one of them. YMMV and apologies to those with white/black Tigers.

My white Tiger was painted the same color blue when I bought it. Also had black interior.

Burnt

If you plan on leaving car in Summer sun for any time black seats are the worst.
I have found that some seat kits fade faster than others. Mostly my exp. has been with other cars though.
The Beam seats are designed well in that folding them fwd. covers the bottom very well.

There was a car on EBay with a camel leather interior, sweet but the nit pickers cry "Non stock",
I would just say over improved
But tasteful,
Do what you like and don't be controlled by a stamp on a vin tag or the correct squad.

What I meant leather is way too nice to sit in with clothes on that were just under the car, or bake in the Cali. sun.

I had a canvas Robbins top on my 64 bug convertible, just like the car I really wanted but could not afford a Mercedes Benz conv.

I nearly cried when a seagulls acid poo stained the canvas.

Vinyl, is poo proof and Jack in the box proof.

I bet though some guys can afford a new conv. top every two years cuz the window gets a little scratch.. or to do whatever they want.

I would have the window replaced when it was too cloudy , and not the whole top. One of the reasons Detroit stopped making verts back in the day, was the added expense related in maintaining the plastic windowed models.

1964 Bug conv, and 1964 Falcon conv. in mothballs,

What song has the this line "snappy little white and red turns everyone's head," a Jimmy Buffet one?

Got a chance to work on the car some more today. While removing the back panels in the trunk so I could gain access to the fuel tanks I noticed something interesting. The rear trunk spring had a leather cover over it and it was a baby blue color. It got me wondering if the orginal interior on the car was this color.

Since I never got around to removing the driver seat prior I decided to do so today. To my surprise when I did I found the exact baby blue carpet under it. One of the odd things was both front and back side of the carpet (more like a floor mat) was baby blue but the thread on the underside of the carper for stiching was red. The same thread on the top side was blue..

Anyhow murphy must have been there with me today as my phone died while I was taking pictures of my findings so I only got these two pictures of the trunk. I will try and get a picture of the interior carpet tomorrow.

Thoughts? I know the seats are in fact black as the color on the underside of the drivers is not faded. I don't see where they offered a light blue upholstry with blue carpets and black seats. Could this have been done just because this car was the first of the mk1a productions so they wanted something special to show?

Or maybe its my lack of knowledge on the subject and the rear trunk springs are just thrown in randomly... however the carpet is blue and black seats...

Age and Fade

I would suggest that something in the history of the car created chemical fade in the carpet dye (adhesive bleed thru, etc.). As to the anti rattle boot spring covers; these things were stitched from scraps and could be any flavor. . . . . .
