3 Tigers just competed at this year's LSR invitational, which many use as a tune-up for August's Monterey Reunion (Historics).

Lorraine Gruys probably logged the most laps in her beautiful black Tiger.

Tom Sakai had the worst luck with an off course spin in one race and a flat tire in another.

The SCF Tiger ran the fewest laps (while breaking in new ball rocker arms and heat cycling tires for August). It withdrew (while leading) early in the first race. This caused it to be gridded aways back for the second race where it ultimately managed to work up to a second place finish. This set it up to start in the front row for the big race where the Tiger made good use of its muscle, easily winning the drag race to the first turn. John then cranked out consistent laps and looked to be comfortably cruising to an easy win when a caution brought out the pace car, bunching up the pack. To add to the confusion, the flagman in the tower added 4 extra laps to the race. Regardless, the SCF Tiger kept the lead and scored the victory.

Michael,

The usual group that comprise most of our over 2 liter GT class are usually 327 Stingrays, GT 350s, small block Cobras and Tigers. I'm familiar with those "regulars" and some were at the LSR Invitational event.

I just saw the list of those accepted to this year's Monterey. It's a weird group because of Corvette being the Honored Marque. They even put an original Grand Sport in our (production) class. A Grand Sport is considerably lighter than us and has at least a hundred more horsepower and much better brakes. This year I have no idea who many of the entrants are, much less who the front runners will be. It's safe to say it won't be us but we'll still give it our best shot.I have already made up "the list" & discussed it with Dan Walters. Work starts next week.

Buck,

well the win is great news, it's a pitty they will be letting some "prototype" cars run against you at montery, the grand sports ran in prototype in period, and that was a few years AFTER they were built. it isnt just weight, power and brakes on those.. they also have BIG tyres.

I'm surprised they arent pulling the 'vettes out of the class and running them in a special race of their own like they did with the cobras and e-types..

Am sure you guys will do the Tiger proud (always do) fingers are all crossed from this side of the globe.

Congratulations......great pics, wish I would have known, would have made a good day trip to go and watch.
