Most who know their USA Sunbeam history know of Larry reeds involvement with British sports cars in the states.. and more specifically Sunbeams.. this was a nice bit of memorabilia, i hope it found its way onto a Tiger (or alpine).

But

The item may have some signs of cosmetic wear, but ??

Near 400 bucks with the appropriate weathering? Authentic old...? must have.

Not me.

retirement fund

Wow! Living in Westchester during the 50's through the late 70's, I can't tell you how many of these license plate holders I saw running around town...if I had 'swapped' them for a nice chrome license plate holder every time I ran across one I could be retired by now!!

Rick, $294 is nearer 300 than 4 ;)

i guess it's just a cool item.. like having a HSC one on a Californian black plate car.. that said.. couldn't be hard to repro these

I was looking for a frame from the original dealer where my GT350 was sold, couldn't find one for years so we looked into reproducing one, not cheap. If they had one to make a mold out of would be ok, but from scratch is a lot harder. I wish I had collected frames as a kid, they were everywhere.

From what i see the plate frames are pretty generic, it's just the header and footer that change.. quite easy to CAD that up in the computer and have it CNC'd then glue it into a cut frame and take the mold from it... or could just CADcam the whole thing.

I tired to get it but the winning bider kept it very high- I lived around the corner from his dealership. how much is to much. cnc here i come.

Does anyone have a HSC one?

On the Larry Reed one the nice detail is the checker flags on each side on the bottom.. bit of detailing.

A Steal at 6 Bucks

The CAT club frames I mention, in the earlier post, six bucks for two.
Picture two the frame and plate I got and did the Calif. YOM program with. There is a list of the car dealers in California that sold the beasts when new and while not Larry Reed the dealer in Oceanside California catered to nearby Camp Pendleton and Navy service men. Sometimes you have to buy a couple of junkers to get a cool plate frame and plate. It only coast 10 bucks more per year to re use the old California Black Plate. Sorry for the senior moment maybe the SAAC posting is for a Santa Ana dealer a pretty tough part of town these days,

Warren--what's up with the partial '13 sticker? Did they give you a small plate for the new decal? Or put it over the '66 one. I have an extra plate if you need one. The 2 cars just sitting look pretty sad and lonely.

Rebel

I guess I am just a rebel. I cut down the 2013 sticker and will not use the over/under aggravating metal tabs they sent with it. The rest of the sticker is attached to the registration copy in the car.

Most guys just cover the YOM sticker "1966" in this case. California has also some stickers that just have a big 13 with no 20 in front of that. IDK what is up with those as I just got two for driver cars that look the same.

It is funny people stare right at the plate then still ask ''what year is the car?"

The two cars are still lonely but more loved in a covered carport in Pearblossom donors in waiting.
