I always find posts like this humorous because:
1. I really doubt that anyone today is using a Tiger for a daily long range commuter car where the fuel mileage is a serious issue.
2. If you can afford a Tiger, the difference between 15 MPG and 20 MPG probably isn't going to make much of a difference in your cash flow.
3. You have a Tiger because it's fun to drive, not because it's economical. Faster is more fun, 4 barrel is faster.
Same points apply to all the 5 speed installers - do you know how much gas you can buy for what it costs to install a 5 speed? Probably more than you'll buy because of the difference in economy 4sp vs. 5sp for the miles you drive the Tiger, in the rest of your life. I drove my original Tiger (when it WAS my only car and daily driver) cross country at least 5 times, with the original close ratio Toploader trans and 3.54 rear end gears... I don't remember either the engine speed OR fuel economy (cost) being a problem. Just the tiny tanks. But I never had to stop to take a leak when I didn't also need gas.
