Does anyone have pictures of this LAT option?

My rear wheel wells have been cut out by PO and am wondering if the flares will work.

Thanks,

I have an NOS set in my shop--I could send you pics if needed. Which ones are the rear? haha (at least I think they are the LAT flares--who else made them?)

Robert, were you looking at these:

IIRC CAT or PTC made replicas of them back in the late 70's early 80's... there are pics of the front and rear flares on the tigersunited site.

Robert,

Here are pictures of the original LAtT flares, the ones on the darker car are pictures from the LAT homologation documents for the SCCA the others are from the "performance tuning the sunbeam tiger" book.

also IIRC (If I Recall Correctly)
PTC Pacific Tiger Club

From what i can see the rear fenders have a thicker trailing edge where they stop.

Two comments:

1) The accuracy of the pictures in the homologation papers was not strictly enforced back then. Rely on them at your own risk. (Remember the side of a Cobra being passed off as Tiger engine compartment vents?)

2) CAT still has the molds for the flares. Right now Dan Walters is guarding them.

Thanks Michael and BT,

Trying to decide whether to rebuild stock wheel lips or try the flares. I can't tell whether the ones on Ebay are correct or not?

With molds at CAT, will there ever be another run?

Regards,

Flares

I was at the Parts Inventory and saw those dusty old pieces.

Flares were in fashion in the 70's but interest faded. It is probably 20+ years since CAT sold them.

Has demand returned? Maybe but we cannot invest in inventory that will not be sold.

Rick

Maybe

The molds could be rented or loaned like the clubs BON ?
Maybe its easier to contact Bruce for his NOS set.
Robert he was in on the email for the hard top glass. It is hard to cut up a good qtr. Panel 4 a wheel arch. Sorry we could not figure something out with my desert baked cars when you were in town .

I see someone beat me to posting a pic--mine look just like that. I would love to install them on a car--need to find wheels wide enough to fit them.

Ebay has some LAT Flares Front or back??? You decide

There are some rear fiberglass LAT 44 flares listed on ebay at $174.99.

Beware, they appear to look like the LAT 45 front flares as the front edge of the flare would start at the front part of the fender where the front valence panel is joined to the fender. And these appear to be thinner than rear flares.
Ebay had sold some rear LAT 44 flares in mid Jan 2012 which look like the actual rear flares. They sold for $153.

Good luck. They come up on ebay once in a blue moon.

Fronts

Mark,

You are correct. I was talking with Cobrakidz and he shot pics of both side by side and we concluded that those on Ebay are the fronts. Too bad I was delinquent on the rears that sold earlier this year.

REAR FLARES

MANY YEARS AGO I MOUNTED THE CAT FIBERGLASS REAR FLARES TO HIDE THE CHOP JOB OF CUTTING OUT THE RUST, AND OPENING UP WHEELWELLS. THE ADHESIVE AND PAINT DETERIORATED AFTER ABOUT 5 YEARS. WHEN I GOT SERIOUS ABOUT ELIMINATING THE RUST PATCH JOB ON THE WHEELWELLS AND ROCKERS, I USED METAL PATCH PANELS FROM SUNBEAM SPARES (ENGLAND),CLASSIC SUNBEAM AND BRITISH VICTORIA, WHEN THE WHOLE CAR GOT REPAINTED.
RANDY SAYS HIS PANEL BENDER GUY IS NOT MOTIVATED ANYMORE EXCEPT WHEN THEY LOAD HIM WITH LATTES.

The old Guru prefers hands on fitting in the shop. His pride doesn't trust application once a piece heads off to another welder. We're trying to get him off the lattes and onto something cheaper, like Old Bali Hai wine or Shlitz.
