Brad at Jenkinson's Concour & Customs made a slick license plate mount bracket for my Tiger. I didn't want to drill holes in the trunk lid after a long restoration. He has decided to produce them and he has them on Ebay. Check it out to save drilling your trunk lid. Either look on Ebay or contact Brad at http://www.concoursandcustoms.com/

liecence plate bracket

I believe that Sunbeam Specialties already has one listed in their catalog.

Not affiliated  Points off for non factory part, tough corner to be painted into bro.

I like a naked deck lid so I mounted mine below the bumper. This is a nice alternative.

Licence plate bracket

I didn't want to drill deck lid either so I mounted the licence plate using magnets as used by used car dealers for their dealer plate

bracket

why not use the bracket from the CAT parts room. it allows you to move the plate out of the way and under the bumper. we've used them and they work great.

Bracket

I've always used the CAT brackets and mounted the license plate below the rear bumper. I'd always thought that was the factory location and that the CAT bracket was a reproduction of the original bracket. I think they look terrible on the trunk lid - like a pasted on afterthought, and messes up the lines of the car.

How would one go about purchasing the rear license plate bracket through CAT? I don't see anyplace to look at one or see if they are available right now.

Tiger Tales

Inside the front cover of every issue is the e-mail address and phone number for C.A.T. Parts.

OK Contrarian

But ... what is posted is not current by definition. If you want yesterday? that's OK but an E-mail or phone call is real current info on the inventory. Depends on whether you are curious? or really need something.

While the direct link to the CAT Parts site was already listed, this is a good time to remind folks that there is a link near the very bottom of this page (CAT Home Page) that takes one to the - wait for it - CAT home page website. You can click on areas of interest, such as Parts or the Forum from the home website. The Parts section does have the contact information for our part person, in case your edition of the Tiger Tales is missing the second page! :)

Thanks guys.
I may give them a call as I am having a re-spray and some minor body work done on my car right now. I like the idea of few/no holes in my boot lid.:)

Did they originally just mount the license plate to the trunk or was there a bracket that was attached to the trunk?

20/20

When we restored the car, I went back and forth between mounting the plate below the rear bumper or on the boot lid. Initially it was under the bumper for a few months, and for whatever reasons, it looked a bit awkward there to me So, impetuously perhaps, I mounted it on the boot.

I still prefer the plate on the lid, but with hindsight, that most "valuable" ability, I would have figured out a way to attach the plate without drilling holes.
