Looking for a Tiger restoration shop.

Hey Dan,

I can honestly recommend R&A Motorsports http://www.r-amotorsports.com/ in Kansas City. They have restored at least two Tigers in the past and did the work to fit and paint my LAT hood. I know the owner Jeff Yergovich as he is very involved with the community and various clubs in the area.

His work is impeccable and very detail oriented. I recommend you give him a call and ask pointed questions about your desires for restoration.

You are'nt talking about a SOHC Thunderbolt, are you? My favorite motor in the whole world. The motor that took the hemi out of NASCAR.

IN 1964 Ford made 100 Thunderbolt Farlane drag cars they had a 427 cid
FE big block with dual quads...A freind of mine has one of the remaining examples. Nascar probably called the SOHC cars something else it was a nasty
bad motor to keep running...the snake had one in his Top Fuel car that year...

A few seasons ago, there was a collective effort here to construct a "as original" Thunderbolt complete with all the missing weight, radio/heater delete and a fer real FE side-oiler. The car had a buyer before it was finished, but we took turns for the memories before it was shipped. My bride commented that she could feel the vibration thru the ground when that beastly motor was let loose. . . . . .

Restoration Shop?

This thread has been all over the map? So why not post a picture of the "First Thunderbolt" as restored.

I also have appreciation for this outrageous automobile which was conceived to compete in the Super Stock class of professional drag racing. This example would be a 4 speed top loader. (S/SA would be the Super Stock Automatic.)

I remember Butch Leal and others racing these at Lions in Long Beach and later Irwindale, CA.

Features to note are those missing headlights which fed air direct to dual 4V carburetors. I think the bumpers were aluminum.

Here is that same Thunderbolt in development. The early cars had Clover leaf hood scoops.

Sorry I asked if cleandan was talking about a SOHC. Finding a shop to fix your Tiger is way more important than a motor we cant even use in our cars. But if we could

Keith Craft is a well known race engine builder and one heck of a nice guy.
At $38k that is a fair price for that motor and the guy will stand behind it 100%.......It would fit in a 67 Mustang pretty nice....hmmmm
