Thank you sir that will be great. Steve from Tigers East in florida sold me a radiator shroud and a radiator fill tank this morning. So i got them all original and was a big step. Thanks for the info on the bracket i really appreciate it. Really need that original air cleaner if anyone wants to part with one.

Air Cleaner housing sometimes show up on Ebay but get winning bids of $1000+. Someone was selling fiberglass repros, again on Ebay for around $500.

hey guys also if someone has a radiator shroud. Thanks

On the header tanks.. be careful which one you bought there were several iterations with slight differences, the MKII one was obviously thr last of them. I dont have it on me.. but william carrols book detailed the changes.

That's a nice housing and 10 to 20 times cheaper than the functionally identical original.

Indeed. I stumbled across that website the other day and thought it was worth mentioning here.

If I didn't have the original unit, I would pop for one of these in a NY second. Since my motor has the original LAT valve covers and oil pan all of which I powdered coated black, and polished the black off the fins. (my car is triple black) of course, my preference would be the repro black one. :)

If I am not mistaken, the original Mark II alternator brackets were cast aluminum. The generator brackets for Mark I's and Mark 1A's were cast iron.

Please correct me if I am wrong...:)

bracket

Hi Bill, the mk2 came with a cast iron alternator bracket.
The water pump and the 2 barrel intake were also cast iron.

i think those oval cleaners are a bit longer than the stock Tiger ones, I am sure i have seen them on a couple of cars. but you would have to run the shallow filter element as the further they extend east/west the more clearance issues you will have with the bonnet.

Thats a good point.

On the subject of parts, I was trawling the 'net last night looking at toploader parts and tiger bits and bobs in general and I hope you US guys realise how lucky you are.

The depth of choice you guys have over there for parts and accessories at low prices made me sooooo green with envy.

The same parts over here would be at least double the price. :(

I had one

Of those and still had to drag it to my pals machine shop and mill out to squeeze it in under the hood. The filter was also pretty tall, and the replacement was really expensive. I ended up fabricating my own filter from motorcycle shop air cleaner foam. I now have a stock air cleaner.

Having seen the fiberglass repop ones in person at the last fix in/swap meet, I'd get one of those as they will probably fool all but some one with Superman eyesight. Can you tell the cast aluminium from the cast iron alternator bracket without a magnet?

Maybe they have not been marketed as the copyright trolls have scared them off. The Ebay ones do not look as nice.

On the repro fibreglass filter housings there were some made in AU and some in the USA. They seem to sell but I guess the issue is someone says I want an original filter housing.. do i spend $450 for one that looks right, but the know it'snot.. or do I spend 700-1000 depending and get a real one.. most end up doing the later.

When the repros first came on my radar it would have been about 2005, they were $450 at that time real ones could be got for 600ish... so not much in it.

That said i got a nice original one for a friend last year for 710, and Eric g offered one on this forum for 700 including post about a year back. It all depends on the person/number of people wanting them at the time.
