I am looking for a set of these straps, that have something to do with the Boot. I am about to install my Wrist-Roll and Boot, but have been told I should install the straps first. FYI this Tiger is not getting a Hard Top.

Sunbeam specialties used to stock them. They are pirelli rubber stap and a tennax fastener.. The only custom bit is the hook.

They hold the vynil soft top cover when the soft top is up.

The straps I've bought from Rick always had the hook installed.

Sunbeam Specialties lists them as AT70 on page 21. Sunbeam Spares also has them if they're on BO at SS. I just installed a set using 1/8" SS rivets and yes do that before the wrist roll install.

Steve,

If you haven't already bought a set through Rick, let me know. I may have an unused, uninstalled set. Sold my Tiger in 20 and have lots o' little bits still here and there in the garage.

Curious about the bits.

I bought the straps from SS. I hope I am installing them the correct way.

That's the way I installed mine. Might wait for Sean or Randy to weigh in as they've done dozens.

That is the correct installation, BUT, I have noted that the straps are longer than the originals... I placed the hooks into the alloy top retainer and then tensioned the straps to the forward top well panel before I installed the rivets. If they are installed loose, they just fall out.

They shrink & get brittle rather quickly of course.

Going back farther than 20 years I think you'll find that TT and Rick had reproductions of various parts made using original NOS parts as a pattern. As Randy said, the originals shrunk, got brittle and would break or tear off the rivets. Rootes probably determined it would happen so originals may have been made longer to account for later shrinkage. That could account for the difference in length. There is a difference between original material and what is now used.
