I am close to installing the three aluminum brackets that sandwich the soft-top and rubber/plastic wrap-around to the rear cowl. Do the two short ones on the ends (Rt. and Lft. ) have holes? In my pile of parts, some do and some don't. I have parted out five Alpines over the last 35 years and made no record of what came off what. This is for my Mark I, so I will weld up the two holes in the long center bracket. I ask around at TU and most said no holes. Also I do not have the wherewithal to anodize the brackets. I powder-painted them silver for the Mark IA (incorrect ), but for the Mark I , I was told they should be a gold-bronze color. I would appreciate any input on this matter . And yes 20 years ago I could care less about this stock stuff, all I wanted to do was race Sunbeams at Monterey ( times change ).

these came off my mk1 and have never been painted. Bronze on one side and dark on the other

These photos show the back piece on a series 4 Alpine that I've had since the 60's. You can see that it's an aluminum piece that looks to have been anodized by Rootes. It is original to the car. The side pieces are from another car and they have the bronze colored finish as do the ones on the series 4. The hard top is from one of my earlier series 5 cars

Something I've never thought to look at on Tigers is this item. Did Tigers have the corks in the tube for the front crossmeber bolt? It was installed by Rootes when the Alpines were built.

For sure all the SV and SIV were not the bronze finish.
I'll try to look this week at the MK1

Why doesn't someone ask the archives for the drawings of the side pieces. It would tell the finish. The parts book show series 3 thru series 5 Alpines used the same part number for the soft top retainers. The side retainers are part# 2220843 and # 2220844. The center retainer is part # 2220845. The screws were part #9772084. They're shown as being #6 X 1/2 inch cross recessed head screws. Sounds like a phillips head to me. There is no mention of anything different in my Tiger parts manual. There is no mention of finish so different vendors may have used a different finish or no finish at all.
