Here is a pic of my dismantled MC. The three parts on the left is a rebuild kit I bought for it, but the only part that ic common to the MC is the main seal which is different than the old seal. Second pic.

Did Tigers all come with the same MC or was there a change at some point :?:

You can see the difference in the seal here. The old one has the flat sealing edge.

Thanks Mal

In time the new seal will look the same as old. I believe there is another seal in the spring jobby that has to be taken apart.

The real fun is getting the boot over the knob on the main shaft without tearing. I think I've been successful only once or twice.

Some kits used to supply red packing grease.

Thanks for the reply.

Obviously I need stronger glasses or I would have seen the small seal .

I used brake fluid to lubricate everything. I probably need to find the correct grease to lube the piston though.

When you look at the tiny little hole in the dust cap you wonder how you are going to stretch it enough to get it over the push rod, but a bit of brake fluid as lube and on it went.

Sorry about this.

The washer as well has to go thru that dust cover hole. The spring clip holds the washer which in turn holds it all in place. Replied to quickly and didn't think it thru. You've probably figured it out by now anyway and cussing at me a bit. Little hole in cap is at top for breather.

I recall packing a little grease on the washer before putting on the dust cap. Last time I put the lightest smear of the red grease on the seal and plunger body itself. Just the lightest film.

They also used to include instructions, some still do but minimal.

Sorry.

No problem there I understood what you ment. I stretched the dust cove over the forked end of the push rod, thought it would be easier than getting the washer through that hole.
