Maybe some vaseline would do the trick.

So my first challenge with the little Tiger would be valve covers, nice, simple. My roommate in college had brushed aluminum TIGER covers on his Mark I EASY. The original Sunbeam covers came off faster than than a tank top off a coed at Florida State! OK I had to use 2 hands on that back bolt, but only difference. Then the bad news. Driver side aluminum not going go. Yep I know ya'll knew that. Put the stock covers back on,5 min, and took her for a ride. QUESTION. What all will I need to disconnect underneath to get that 3/4 of an inch DOWN ward movement to get em on? Motor mounts, exhaust? Motor is mostly stock right down to the points and dist cap. Thanks in advance, Reg

I just did mine. You must drop the motor a bit to fit the ribbed ones. Three bolts hold each motor mount to the frame, inside the wheel wells. I undid these, used a jack with a block of wood under the oil pan, and lowered away. I would go ahead and disconnect the exhaust pipes from the manifolds, but the manifolds should clear without removing them.

Call me Captain Obvious, but, do you have the Tiger valve covers that have the fins removed on the section that goes under the bulkhead? If so, they should go on with no problem- unless- you have them on the opposite sides!

Tube top

I had the same fun but without the Vaseline and without removing the mounts. 1/4 inch drive deepwell socket square drive from the drill driver and a small ignition wrench to turn the drive a string tied to the drive cause it will fall off and roll away under the car.

Of course you also have to put a blanket on the fender and straddle the fender like a co-ed while fiddling and turning the little socket and square drive extension. Lot of fun!! Welcome to the domino effect of Tigering.

No problem, Captain Obvious! When I saw the fins removed on the end I started my celebrations. And just like in Junior High on my first date in the back seat, quite premature... but lest we digress. (Oh the covers are on the correct sides as well) Sooo Dr Bill ,I think you & I are are chasing the same tiger, mounts come off and probably exhaust (it's six yrs old but looks so sweet I wouldn't let Sandusky near the underside of my car) Thanks for the input ,reg

Have you tried rotating engine so that No 8 intake is open when you try to put valve cover on?

This guy might be on to something...perhaps, an aerodynamic advantage...or, creating a ram-air effect:

That solved the fit problem for me and nothing was lowered, not even a tube top or a pair of blue jeans.
